Which frozen veggies are nice?

I'm trying to cut down on my grocery bill, so thought it'd be a good idea to try frozen veg again.

This week I bought the sliced green beans, and sliced cabbage from Sainsburys, and so far so good.

Have even added a fair bit to the chilli that's simmering away for tonight.

I love broccoli and buy Tesco value - granted I cook it until its mush but it tastes fine to me!

Also, my son loves corn on the cob...I always buy the mini frozen ones, sooooo much cheaper and taste just as good!

The Tesco med veg is lush but does have some kind of butter in it so not sure of sn value!

We always have a big bag of frozen onions for when we run out of fresh.
Always get the cheap bags of frozen sweetcorn, peas, brocolli and cauliflower too. Also started getting the bags of mixed veg for adding to soups and thickening sauces.

Frozen cauliflower is brill and very versatile ,I also buy frozen peppers they are like 56p a bag or something and you get loads ,imagine how much that would cost in fresh peppers!!

ooo - will def try some more next week then. Cheers x

i always get the mixed bag of frozen brocolli and cauliflower, and the mini corn on the cobs, they are all yummy!!!! I never buy fresh brocolli or cauliflower anymore. xx

Frozen onions are great, saves crying your eyes out!!!

Ive never noticed frozen mushrooms or peppers or onions!! I would def buy these!! I must be shopping with my eyes closed all these things people have said about i never knew exsisted!! lol

Me to. I gave up on frozen veg years ago, and it def looks like the quality and variety have improved no end.

I remember the horrible frozen brussel sprouts my nanna use to give me as a kid - ewww! Thankfully they were small enough that you could cut them in half, then swallow them without chewing as long as you had some gravy on them for lubrication. Think they might be responsible for me writing off a lot of frozen veggies ever since.

LMAO :rotflmao: i remember these!!!

I have frozen peas, corn on the cob and peppers.
I really don't like frozen broccoli and I'll only use frozen cauli in something like a curry not as a veg.
Frozen spinach is great too - for the price of a bag of fresh you get loads of frozen in blocks. Fab!

I'm not a fan of frozen vegetables. I find that they always taste watery and mushy even when lightly steamed. The only frozen veg I buy is petit pois.

sliced mushrooms, onions, petit pois, sweetcorn, broccoli and cauli are always in the freezer.Sometimes will have carrots but they have to be tiny baby ones. I also get the frozen stir fry veg from sainsburys.I also like the steamfresh mixed bags but only get them when they are on offer. :)

The tesco value mixed veg is chopped up all tiny...great for hiding in the food of fussy toddlers (and husbands)
They are also good in omlettes as I dont like my veg too big in those!
