Going under the knife!...

Hi all,

I have recently been told by my GP that my tum IS bad enough to warrant an NHS tummy tuck ( I hoped she would say it wasn't too bad, and a bit of exercise would sort it, and it does prove the critical boyf right. Ggrrrrr!).

Anyone got any experience of tummy tuck and any wise words?

I'm dead scared of the thought because I'm a single mom but I would SO LOVE a flat tum.

Thank you!

Well I have not yet experienced it ! But when I have my hernia repaired the surgeon said he would do me one at the same time...there was me thinking you only buy one get one free in supermarkets.....lol

Hi Clairabell,

My built in apron was past the point of no return too so had an extended tummy tuck and it was money well spent!

Everyone's experiences/bodies/pain thresholds are different but I found it an absolute breeze. My consultant told me to expect to wake up in a lot of pain but I couldn't feel a thing! I waited for it to kick in once the anaesthetic wore off, and waited, and waited...nothing.

I was walking a bit funny for a week or so (bent forward slightly) but other than that I was fine. You are advised not to lift anything heavy or exercise for 6 weeks after.

I still have lots of stretch marks and wrinkly bits so still look tragic in my birthday suit (not quite as triagic as did pre op though!) but it did make a big difference to the clothes I could wear.

My experience was a great one but I have heard others that haven't been. In the end only you can decide whether you want to go ahead with it when the time comes hun.

Best of luck and if you want any more details I'm happy to help :) x
