DO NOT QUIT !
Hi, I have 2 questions.

1. I am currently looking at different diets to do to lose my weight. I want to lose roughly 5 stones, to be honest, as quickly as possible. Ive seen an article in todays Daily Star newspaper about a guy who lost 16 stones in just 10 months on SW !!! Now Im in no way saying that hes lying at all but is that possible on a diet like SW ? After all, I thought that amount of loss in that frame of time is what you could lose on a meal-replacement diet.

2. Also, I know it depends on various factord such as if you are male or female, height age weight etc .. but what is the average weekly weight loss on SW ?

It's very easily true!
The weight losses really do vary but men do lose quicker than women. We had a married couple join us, he lost 4stone in the time it took her to lose 1.5 stone. It just fell off him.
It's like anything though, we are all different. I could say the average loss is 1-2 pounds a week but it can be 4lb a week for some and half a pound a week for others.
The best thing about losing on SW - you get to eat!
The other thing which concerns me is this, if you lose it very quickly will it go on quickly and will you lose lean tissue as opposed to fat?
Good luck whatever you choose.

It just depends on each individual the average is 2lb a week but sometimes if you've more to lose and stick the plan you can lose 5lb a week.

Its just teh cost of normal foods and knowing how to shop around! It also depends what days you have as beans jacket potato are cheap where as having red days all the time is quite expensive if eating things like salmon and fresh meats.

Last time i did SW coupled with exercise i averaged 3lb a week but i had more to lose. This time round its been 1lb a week but i havent been exercising and theres only a few stone left to go.

Make sure whatever you chose you do it sensibly

Good luck
xx

Some people say that they find themselves spending more than they did pre-SW, but I can't say I see much difference! Apart from fruit and veg, eggs, lean meat and fish, milk etc my SW-specific staples are: Babybel lights, Laughing cow lights/deli lights, Quark, Mugshots (pasta soup made in a mug), Ryvita, Ryvita minis, Alpen Light bars, HIFI bars (in class). These can bump up the shopping budget a bit, but the way I look at it is that I'm not buying anywhere near as many takeaways or eating out like we used to, I rarely throw out/waste food like I used to, and a lot of the food I buy is cheap enough anyway eg rice, pasta, couscous, lentils! It's up to the individual how much you spend, but you can still have a balanced diet and not spend a fortune! Slimming World rocks!! Good luck in finding the right plan for you- I promise you won't go far wrong with SW!!X

It depends completely on the person. 16 stone in 10 months is really going for it though and I would say that is the exception rather than the rule - I would assume he really reduced portion sizes, ate a lot of superfree and excercised a lot! I think I will go and pick up a copy of the Star now though to see what it says.
How long had he maintained the weight loss? I would say if he can lose it that fast, he could put it back on a lot faster!

I am averaging 5lbs/week - but that is only 4 weeks in. However, I do not see why I won't maintain a longer term average of 4lbs/week. But that is me, and what I am doing will only work for me. My OH is eating pretty much the same as me, but she is only averaging 1-2lb/week so far.

Cost wise we are saving a fortune. Reckon £35/person/week for breakfast/lunch/dinner (+£5 for the class). We would each spend this on lunch alone pre SW, then another £20 on takeaways, not planning meals and being lazy about cooking would lead to loads of food waste, and I could easily go out on a Friday/Saturday night and spend +£100 on beer and a kebab on the way back!

Losing weight, better meal planning, less stress, feeling better, enjoying meals, more energy, saving close to £500/month - loving it!

As everyone else has said, it really does depend on the person as to how much they lose. myself my boyfriend and my mum all do sw, they seem to lose a bit more than me each week. But you can't really compare your weight loss to others because we're all different, have different metabolism rates etc. And if i did compare myself I think i'd end up depressed because i lose less than others each week! SW is not only about losing the weight but teaching us how to eat and live a healthy lifestyle. I think it's the ideal plan i really do.

Cost wise, my first week or so i spent loads on food, but if you shop around you can do it cheaply. i just did a weekly shop today for 2 and it came to £40, so not bad going!!

Take the time to look at some posts on here to see if you think it would be suited to you :)

Honestly i'm not lying - though I have lost 15 8.5 lbs not 16 stone.
I did really have to go for it though as written controlling portions and exercising for first time since school. As to cost fresh fruit is expensive but otherwise as I was doing green not too bad at all. My average loss was over 5 lbs a week and although it obviously slowed down at the end i was still doing 2-3 lbs.

The man himself! Conratulations on your loss :D I picked up a copy of the Daily Star at lunchtime and you look great! You must feel amazing and have so much more energy!
What problems did you face along the way? Or was it just plain sailing and determination? What inspired you to start losing in the first place?
I assume you will be in the SW magazine in the future!

Hi yes it can be done with slimming world ive been going slimming world for 21 weeks and i have lost 4 and half stone but i have also been exercising while on the plans but i will say is dont rush yourself feel pressured that you have to lose it quickly because thats when you feel disappointed and more likely to gain and not rushing will allow your body to adjust to the change on the shopping front i have noticed a differnce i can buy the nicer fruit and and healthy stuff instead of crap thats the only real differnce
