frozen fruit

icklerockchick

slow but steady!
Hiya looking to up my fruit intake as not been getting much in the way of fruit. I don't like the basic fruit such as apples, bananas or oranges but find berries, pineapple, mango etc can be quite expensive.

Can anyone recommend some good frozen fruit and where I can get it from? I have access to most supermarkets within driving distance.

I find frozen veg a great way to make sure I always have some handy. Frozen sweetcorn, peppers and onions I can add to almost any meal lol same with a tin of chopped tomatoes but I really struggle to eat much fruit.

Hey icklerockchick, just been on Tesco website for you and they have offers on their frozen packs of fruit- 3 packs for £5 of either raspberries, mango, summerfruits, or black forest fruits and the Discount brand Country Stores have bags of mixed fruits, raspberries or tropical fruits for £1.29! I love defrosting a load of summer fruits and having them with a Mullerlight or Activia fat free and some crumbled up meringue!X

I think you do have to accept they won't taste the same as fresh! especially strawberries which can be very mushy but all are delicous stirred in yogurt or ona synned meringue nest with a dollop of frmage frais or in porridge YUM

Hi - Sainsbury's and Co-op do them too. Three bags for £5 in Sainsburys. They do mixed summer fruit and blueberries (not sure what other types).
Like the others, lovely mixed with some fat free yog. I sometimes mix mine with some scanbran (soaked in water over night) for a filling, but refreshing breakfast.

thanks vry much everyone! super helpful as always! i usually go to my local asda which is quite small so not a great range but these sounds yummy so will defo try out all the other supermarkets see what i like best :)

as you say great to mix in yoghurt or even just eat frozen berries from the bag lol! :)

I go to Waitrose and Tesco, and the larger branches do have quite a good selection.

Strawberries don't freeze all that well, but raspberries are excellent. Most tropical fruit is good.

It is never going to be as good as fresh, but is sometimes cheaper and obviously more convenient.

I find raspberries are the best and tastiest frozen fruit, although the frozen cheries from sainsburys are nice too, as are the summer fruit mix.

I get mine from Tesco or Asda and they are fine. I let mine defrost and usually eat with a Mullerlite with chocolate sprinkles and/or a mini meringue crushed into it...lovely!

I used to get them from Tesco and split them into smaller portions before putting them in the freezer. Defrosted grapes are nasty though.

if you buy fresh red grapes and freeze them and eat them frozen they are yummy. Like sweets but free!
