Plateau anyone?

DopeyAngel

Sweet wrapper fetishist.
Hiya,
I know this must get asked all the time, but.....have many of you experienced a plateau during WW?

I only started properly at the beginning of January....which would usually be too early for me to have hit a plateau already but to be fair I did lose 2 stone last year by myself, so it's not like healthy eating is a new thing altogether.

Anyway, the past two weeks I have been an absolute angel on WW (not the Dopey variety!) Being careful with portions, counting and re-counting my points every day. But I haven't lost a pound :(

I'm walking about 20 miles each week (mainly 3-4 hrs moderate pace each saturday and sunday) and swimming twice each week. I haven't been eating my activity points.

Does anyone have any advice for me? I know it's boring to have the same conversations week in week out but sometimes it's really demotivating to be really careful, try to exercise and not lose anything.

It would be really helpful to hear from anyone who has experienced a similar thing and come through the other side of it as my resolution is starting to wobble a little bit (dangerously close to thinking 'sod it' and devouring entire contents of local Greggs).

Thanks loads in advance

I gained 1lb this week and feel I have plateau'd a little bit, so from today I am doing Wendie for a week to see if that kick starts it again for me. For example, today instead of my normal 31 points I will only have 28, then tomorrow will be 31, then it varies over the week but ultimately I will still use up all my points.

I find even is I stick to my points the weeks that I have potato's & bread I sts or gain maybe it's worth changing what you eat just to see if there is a pattern for you
& well done for your losses so far you will get there

Hmmmm - mix it up a bit on different days? Maybe that's a good idea Gerry, I quite like the idea of starving myself one day if I can pig out the next :D

Thanks very much - just need a little push to lose the rest!
Maybe a low carb idea is a good one - difficult to stick to at brekkie time but shouldn't be too tricky for the rest of the day. Thanks for advice.

I can send you the formula for Wendie if you want which works out what points you need to take each day. PM me your email address and I'll send it when I get home.

that's ONE of the reasons I hate the Wendy plan. Starving yourself then pigging out is the opposite to the healthy diet WW promote.

Do remember the Wendy plan is NOT a proper WW plan. It's no more official than me making up some half cocked theory that I found worked for me one week, calling it the Sandy plan and then coming on here to try and get you all to ignore WWs rules and to try my great new plan.

Why not try eating your APs or do Kick start for a week. I've found that usually works if I hit a plateau.

You are right Starlight - but WW 'healthy eating' doesn't seem to be shifting anything at the mo. Argh! I just need a teensy little loss so that I can feel motivated again I suppose. It feels pointless trying hard and not getting anywhere.

Is kick start the menu they plan out for you in the book?

Thanks mate - unfortunately I have to reply on here first as I need to get my 50th post before I can PM you! Doh!
Done now tho - yay!

KS is basically 18 points a day if youre under 14 stone and 22 points a day if youre over 14 stones. Its meant to be followed for the first week to give you a head start and to use if you plateau. Dont give up, plateaus happen to us all at some point, and theyre totally disheartening but they DO pass. Just dont fall into the bingeing/starving cycle just to try and boost a loss - its not a good mindset to get into.

Try either KS for a week or give your diet a shske up, if you fall into the habit a lot of us do and eat the same things a lot that can affect your wi too. Oh and try eating those AP points, that could make a difference too if youre excercising a lot - dont give up!!!

surely kick start is just the same as wendy, 18 points for a week before resturning to the normal amount for your weight thus mixing it up a bit.

Thanks Star - it's good to know that everyone else has boring weeks of no weight loss as well! Grrr - stupid tummy! Disappear damn you!

haha im on 19 points and totally mix it up, some days i eat the full 19 others only 12 or so. Starlight doesnt like me promoting eating that few points, but really i eat alot, just mostly vegetables and zero point stuff usually with some grilled fish. just kept my weight loss fast :)

:sigh: Its not I dont like you promoting it - ITS WRONG!!!! Its not following WW plan doing that. Youre also eating under the minimum WW say ANYONE should be eating. If thats how you want to do it, thats fine but PLEASE dont suggest it or recommend other people do. Its dangerous and its NOT following the plan!

aslong as you get enough calories, it doesnt matter if its pointed stuff or not, providing u get protein too, which is what my points go on.

If youre following WW then youre following WW and if you want to lose weight you stick to the plan and eat the points they say you need. If you dont want to count points then dont follow WW - Calorie Count by all means.

If you want to do a variation on WW when you only have a little weight to lose by all means do that but please dont suggest people basically ignore WW guidelines by eating so few points.

im assuming the people on WW such as dopey, wants to lose weight, and all im doing is saying what i do, yes i dont do ww religiously but i lose weight which is the aim of all people on a diet. Please don't shoot me down for just passing on what i do, im not forcing anyone to do the same, by just mentioning my methods

And the key phrase is 'people on WW'

But your methods are unhealthy and totally against WW recommendations!! Lots of people come on here and dont go to classes so take the advice they get on here as being accurate.

WW clearly state 2 things! DONT save more than 4 points a day and DONT go under 14 points. As I said, by all means if you want to ignore the rules then thats fine but please dont post things which are totally disregarding WW rules, when people are trying to stick to the plan properly.

And they can , they may or may not chose to read/accept/take what i say or do, thats up to them and their judgement. I dont agree with people doing WW and not eating vegetables and saying " it hasnt affected my weight loss at all" where as that may be true, thats promoting an unhealthy diet and attitude towards the ww diet too.

It seems like we're going around in circles with this arguement, its getting rather dull.

Dopey, it works for me, try if u wish, not if you dont :)
