Paneer Cheese as a Healthy Extra?

Does anyone know if you can use Indian Paneer Cheese as a healthy extra?
I would guess so as most other cheeses can be used as an extra, however I cannot find it anywhere in my book on on the Slimming World website?

thanks!

I know it's not as I recently had it in a curry & asked my C, but she couldn't tell me how many syns it was:cool:

1 cup of paneer cheese (224g/8oz) is 13.5 syns on all plans, if thats any help

That means that 1oz or 28g of paneer is just over 1.5 syns - that's very low compared to other cheeses, for instance full fat cheese where you get 28g for a HEB.

Yeh that's true!! Sometimes things can sound a lot, like for example I was making the chicken & veg thai curry from EE cookbook and the reduced fat coconut milk I used (Amoy) was 12.5 syns for half a can! I panicked but then realised that 3 syns per portion was actually really OK as all the other ingredients were totally free and I ate tons and it was delish!!X

Thanks for all your replies - I am still a little confused as to why Paneer isn't a healthy extra as it seems relatively low in fat compared to other cheeses - but I will stick with counting 1 and a half syns per 28g as I think this is ok!
Thanks!

it will be because HEs are chosen because of their calcium, fibre and protein content rather than being low fat. it may just be that it's not as high in calcium as other cheese, in the same way that you can't have soft cheese as a HEA.
