Mad old Bat with Attitude
Last year I lost just over 2 1/2 stone with SW, got down to a size 16, shopped for England (on ebay) and promptly lost all motivation to get down to target weight! I have since been ill and put 7 lbs on since October. I've gone back to class this week which is helping, but do I buy 1 piece of clothing in a 14 to aim for?(I can still get into my 16s) How do I get back to feeling fat enough to really galvanise myself into getting down to target? Answers on a postcard please

Not sure what to say really. Buying clothes a size too small wouldnt motivate me as I would get depressed that I couldnt fit into it and eat more! But if it works for you. I know when I lost motivation and put back on the weight that I lost I couldnt do anything about it until I felt ready to. Nothing external seemed to motivate me I had to wait until I really wanted to lose weight again.

Probably doesnt help you much but wanted to at least try and help.

Good luck anyway.

Try looking at pictures of you 2.5 stone heavier....that should make you never want to go back and may start motivating you.
It's not easy to get back into the plan of things, but just try to take it one meal at a time and you will get there!

Hello stranger. Good to see you back. Go into the kitchen find some shopping that weighs say seven pounds and carry it out with you for a walk. Do you really want to be carrying that and more unnecessarily and risk jeopordizing your health? Buying clothes doesn't work because you may never be the "right " size for the particular garmnet you bought (every shop varies ). Imagination works well . . . imagine a slimmer fitter you and really experience what it feels like Good luck xx

Welcome back Judi! Missed you xxx
You really have to do it for YOU and nobody else!!
Forget buying clothes. Just get there first, then buy the clothes!
I am in my old "slim" clothes and the last of my fat clothes are on the way to charity shops.
I promised myself clothes shopping at Target, but after being laid off I can't afford it just yet so my old slim clothes will have to do!
Judi, have a hug from me, and if I can make target, you most certainly can!!

Judi!!! How lovely to see you again!

Sounds like you have had a bit of a rough ride over the last few months so dont beat yourself up about it. So you have put on 7lbs so what!! You know deep down that if you follow the plan 100% that will be gone soon enough!

Why dont you just take it one day at a time, Get your books out, plan your meals and find some lovely new recipes to try out. You know that you can do this you just need to find your slimming world head!!!

Good luck and stick around! We will try to help!!! xx

Oh, thanks for the welcome back girls!I have been lurking in the shadows . I'll just keep going until my clothes are really loose then!

Im in a similar situation, in the fact that I have been at target, I am now 9lbs away from my target as I put 1.5 stone back on due to not going to class. I have recently been looking at photos back when I first started slimming world and this seems to have given me a bit of a kick in the bum as I certainly don't want to go back to the old me which was 2.5 stone heavier and in larger clothes. I bought myself a countdown in the new year and am using this as my marker to be back at target by the time the countdown runs out as I dont want to have to carry on paying to get weighed lol.

The only person that can get you back on track is you, but just turn this around and think of the the useful advice that you would give to someone else having the same problem and you then probably have the answer looking back at you.

You know you can do it, and so do we. Good Luck Judi, you'll have that 7lb off in no time xx

I think if you put too much pressure on it have psychological effects. I am under a lot of pressure with uni work and just try to take one day at a time and concentrate on doing ym best that day - eventually they will built up to manage my binge eating and also cope with the challengues with food :)

Hi Judi,

firstly welcome back, i remember you from a few months ago, and it really was amazing how much you'd lost, i'd lost around 22lbs..however gained..14lbs between october-january!

Firstly, make a list of WHY you want to loose weight, and i'd definately say go get a piece of clothing a size smaller and STICK this list on this piece of clothing!!!

I'm aiming to loose weight for my 21st which is in september, and have bought a lovely LBD which is a size 12...and have done the same thing, the dress is sooo nice its worth it!

I can kind of see this in 2 ways...

1. If you are happy with how you are now why not adjust your target? It is hard to set a target when you dont know what you will look like or be like at that target, and I guess that sometimes you will achieve what you want before what you thought you would want!! There is no point in striving for a new weight if you are happy with what you are now.

However

2. You set that target for a reason. Why not list all the reasons you wanted to get to that weight in the first place? That may rekindle those feelings of motivation you have been missing.

Whatever you decide it has to be the best decision for you and what makes you happy!!
