more fruit than veg

i'm not a great fan of veg, can't stand salads, however i do try and fit mushrooms, peppers and onions into meals where i can and when cooking mince i grate in carrots - I've been eating more and more fruit over the last 2 weeks for my 1/3 superfree and wondered if this could be affecting my weight loss - put on last 2 weeks and really struggling as to why, thinking of switching back to WW as i know that inside out. Don't get a chance to ask C at meeting as the group is huge and she is new.....could i be eating too much fruit? ate a full pineapple yesterday and a full punnet of cherries today as well as clementines

I have been eating loads of fruit as well, can easily have 5 pieces during the day at work and still much on a whole bag of grapes in the evening. I am not aiming to lose weight though as I am pg and if I wanted to lose I would probably try to swap some of my fruit snacks for vegetables. Do you like raw carrots? Or sweet cherry tomatoes?

I make big pots of vegetable sauce, like ratatouille, and eat it with everything. If you like carrots, mushrooms, peppers and onion, you should be able to make some. Just cook the veg, add chopped tomatoes, passata and herbs and you're done!

When you say you can't stand salads - what exactly is it you don't like? Is it lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber? You can make a salad with just about any vegetable - my favourite is grated carrot with just a squeeze of lemon juice and some sunflower seeds (8 syns for 28g, but that is loads - 2 syns worth is enough to mix with a large grated carrot). Or finely sliced baby courgettes, with a little yogurt or fromage frais, and some finely chopped tarragon or dill. Chopped cucumber and mint with yogurt makes a raita which is a great dip. The possibilities are endless.

i'm not a fan of lettuce, tomatoes or carrotts, if i make a salad it will be lettuce, cucumber, spring onion & pepper but then i have to have some salad cream with it....can't get away with carrots i just seem to be chewing and chewing for ages and then not able to swallow the damn thing. it's probably easier to list the veg i do eat...
cucumber
lettuce
peppers
onions
mushrooms
potatoes
turnip/swede
carrott grated with mince in recipes
i've tried BNS but find it too mushy and sweet
i retried veg on a sunday luch recently to see if it was just childhood memories making me think i didn't like them and gave brocoli, cauliflower, cabbage, sprouts and carrots another go but no luck although this was when i started eating turnip so there was a small success!
might have to try peas and see how i am with those!

How are you cooking your vegetables? I hated them when I was a child, because they were always boiled. I never boil vegetables (except for potatoes) now - they are always steamed or roasted or stir-fried.

Butternut squash is not mushy if it is roasted - although it is still sweet, of course. My favourite of all is leeks - thinly sliced and stir-fried or steamed. Yummy.

Also, you could try a tray of oven-roasted Mediterranean vegetables. Cut these into chunks - onions, peppers, aubergines, courgettes, add some small tomatoes and spray with frylight. Put into the oven until the vegetables are just soft and slightly charred around the edges.

You could try making your own coleslaw. That is white cabbage, onion and carrot, but all of them are grated finely and then I mix with e.l mayo and lots of pepper. Or sometimes with some rf salad cream. It makes a nice change to "normal" salad.

How about trying things like asparagus and green beans? But like avisk said steam or stirfry them rather than boil them. They taste so much nicer when boiled.

How about trying things like brocoli and cauliflower raw? I know you tried them cooked but they are super scrummy when raw. You could make a nice garlic and mint dip for them too.

It is worth trying peas as they are delicious but remember that they aren't superfree so you couldn't count them in your third.

I always hated swede, but its nice cooked with carrots and mashed. What about making soups, that often disguises the flavour, and they're very filling. My favourite is leek onion & potato soup.

think i'll try the coleslaw that sounds nice..just remembered i like green beans so will have 2 get soem of those, will rt roasting veg instead...really can't stand the thought of raw cauli & brocoli..it's the texture I can't get away with more than the taste!
I like homemade leek and potato soup too!
