Evening all,

I've decided I'm going to start looking for a job as I am so unhappy at work and have been since I started my new job 5months ago. There just isn't enough to do and I'm not exaggerating but I could fit my weeks work into half a day and I'm getting really quite down. I just keep thinking 'is this it?' for the next 40years of my life?! Now i've never really had to look for a job before, I did a uni placement in central government and they offered me a job when I graduated. Then I applied internally for the job i do now (still central govt).

ANywho, I'm rambling now. I don't have much of an idea what i want to do (half the problem!) I have experience as a policy advisor in the education system and thats about it. How do i even start looking ot move???? ANy good websites/job hunting and cv tips?? all advice welcome! x x

I am in the IT Management field, but these websites may also be useful for you.
www.jobserve.co.uk
www.jobsite.co.uk
www.reed.co.uk
www.monster.co.uk
www.jobs.ac.uk (these are normally jobs in the universities or colleges)

I also look on local council websites every month for anything interesting.

Your local newspaper is also a good place to look as well as sending your CV to local schools in the area?

You can also send speculative applications to companies in your area because they may be interested in the experience and skills you have, but not necessarily is there always a job advertised.

If you want to get into another field you need to see what Transferrable skills you have that could fit into your next job and make sure they are clearly written out in your CV.

Always try to tailor your CV to the job you are applying for too!

Good luck on your job hunt and don't leave your job until you find another one!

Im in the same boat as you, hate my job and I spend about 2 hours a day actually doing work, rest of time im on here lol
Good luck finding a new job x
