yorkshire 3 peaks challenge?

Hi there
anyone ever done this or know anyone who has?

My friend is doing the national 3 peaks at the end of may for charity - her baby was born with medical problems and spent a lot of time in intensive care.

i don't think i would be fit enough to do the national one (i may be a driver ) but was wondering about the yorkshire one.

I have put the link to the babys website in my signature - please click on it as the more hits it gets, the more likely they will be to attract corporate sponsorship

thanks

Hi Daisy,

I have done this many moons ago.

It's not far from me, and is very popular with walkers, especially in the summer.

Lots of people just do the one "peak" aswell if they can't manage the three.

It's beautiful. :)

how long did it take you do it?

do you need to be super fit?

they are hoping to do it in the 12 hours - i don't want to let them down if i do do it

As I recall, we all managed it in the 12 hours that you are supposed to complete it in ~ it was a group thing so lots of support and laughter.

It's about 23 or 24 miles long and a lot of climbing ~ you do have to be quite fit to keep up, but it depends if there are others who are at your fitness level to walk with.

I would think if you're pretty fit then you should be fine ~ just take some proper walking boots, waterproofs and ( shouldn't say this on a LL board!) sugar....a choc bar or mint cake. Kendal mint cake is meant for walkers.

On the othet hand, if you're not sure you can do it in the 12 hours and are worried about being left behind, have a chat about taking an alternative route and meeting up at the end ~ you could just do 1 or 2 of the climbs. There are lots of knowledgeable people if you contact the tourist board in the area.

It's not anything to be scared to do ~ not the Himalayas ;) ~ but it depends how focused or how relaxed the others in the group are. xx :)
