finding my way again !
hi there,
i have been doing CD for 5 1/2 months & have lost just short of 6 stone, but just recently i have been finding it difficult & the desire for food is getting strong. I seem to manage about a week & then cave in.
i go on holiday in a week & a half, all inclusive, a holiday booked b4 i started CD, & i intend to enjoy it.
i have been wondering whether to change to WW when i get back, for the last 1 1/2 stone (+ what goes on on hols).
will i be able to lose that much by my birthday (9 July) as that was allways the target ?
all advice greatfully recieved.
xx:)

Hiya!
Firstly, CONGRATS on your amazing weight loss to date!! Quite remarkable! You must feel like a different person and soooooo looking forward to your holiday!
Just wondering why you'd even consider WW? Although many people lose weight, WW doesn't really teach you anything about portion control, food types, or how to try keep cravings at bay! Most diets work on their own unique way: either low-cal, low-fat, or low-carb. CD is low-carb in the intial stages, introducing food groups little by little as you progress through the programmes, until you should be eating 3 healthy meals a day, and snacking on food groups that won't send your blood-sugar levels loopy!
You've a split issue at the mo'! You're probably itching to lose that last bit before your holiday, but at the same time suffering the cravings to eat. I would personally suggest you start eating so that's it's not too much of a shock to your system when you eat on holiday. Perhaps start on 790kcal this week, 1000kcal the following, go on fab holiday! When you return, you could then return to a CD programme to lose whatever may have been gained whilst sipping cocktails from your sunlounger, and when you've got near to target, start increasing the meals again, to stabilise then maintain the new you! Your CDC will go through all this properly with you, and be able to guide you through each stage, teaching you how to avoid as many "false" carbs (man-made/processed stuff) in future, to keep the pounds at bay! The key is to know your trigger food/s (usually a false carb, eg: bread, crisps, chocolate, sweets, cakes, pastries, etc) and realise that if you return to those, your cravings & addictions will return! My saying:"OLD WAYS=OLD WEIGHT!!". WW are crap for maintaining, as their theory is as long as it's so many points, it's okay - what a load of b*ll*cks! :giggle:
If you've gone this far, and achieved so much with CD, please talk with your CDC - he/she will definately be able to help you for the remainder of your journey!
Good luck! And hope you really enjoy your holiday!!!!!

ps: must go back to beddy-byes now!:nightf:

Lainey,
WW does teach about portion size as you have to weigh everything and point everything you put in your mouth. WW gives you the option to eat everything once you do it properly.

Its the same with low GI diets and even CD when u start maintaining as you have to be strict on portion control as well.

At the end of the day the choice is yours as it will be what makes you most comfortable. I'm guessing its a matter of eating less calories than your body needs to consume for energy which is the gist I'm getting from every single diet that I have done.

I hope you enjoy your holiday and hang in there. You will know what you need to do to give you that final push to lose that 1.5 stone.

Good luck

D
