GRAPEFRUIT??

Hi all.

I am a new starter on the SW diet so just need a little advice. I am a big fan of fresh grapefruit and as far as I am aware they are free on both days. For this reason I am a little confused as to why fresh grapefruit juice from concentrate is quite high in syns. Does anyone know why this is??:sign0163:

Thanks

Rick

It takes loads and loads of grapefruit to make concentrate and the sugars change when you do. This has been covered recently about the difference between juice and fresh fruit with some good replies. Search smoothies in the top box to find the link

You're exactly right RickCov! Grapefruit is free on all days but has to be synned if you drink the juice only. Free food has a lot of 'filling power' for very little calories and a whole grapefruit would satisfy you without adding much to your daily intake. When you juice grapefruit though, it probably takes 5 or 6 fruit to make a glass of juice which, of course, is a lot more calories without the 'filling power'. SW don't want you to overconsume anything that doesnt fill you because that will affect your results so they ask you to syn the juice to protect your losses. Although free food is free, SW do ask you to eat everything in moderation until you are satisfied. Hope that makes sense!!!! xxxx

I know I have said this before, but so many people who ought to know this don't realise, so forgive me for being boring - if you are taking statins to reduce cholesterol you must NOT have grapefruit or grapefruit juice.
