Hello, I am new to this site today and just thought that I would say hello.
I have contacted my local CDC and am just waiting to hear from her but I hope to start next Monday (30th) so am going to spend this week preparing.
One thing that I didn't know is that you have to get authorisation from your GP, is this correct?
Anyway, I am 31 and from Staffordshire, are there any other Midlands/Staffs people? :D
I hope to speak to you all soon and keep up the good work, you are all truely an inspiration to me xxx

Hi and Welcome.

You dont always have to get your doctor to sign its only if you have a bmi over 40 or are on certain types of medication.

Try and cut down on your carbs from now before you start and up your water intake if you can, it will help you in the first few weeks.

Good luck

Hi Planet_Dots,

Blitz is right...

Best of luck with starting CD and your right to do preparation before hand as it will make it much easier to do and you will get into ketosis quicker.

Love Mini xxx

Thank you ladies. I am really not clear on what Ketosis is and when it happens etc so think I need to read up on that :)
I plan to really cut down on cards this week and I drink quite a lot of plain water anyway but will up that too!
Thanks for the welcome again xx

good luick and keep posting. ketosis is when your body is burning fat :)

i have a BMi of just under 40 so didnt need to get my doc to sign anything as aside from my weight i am healthy and not on any medication. I am at risk of devoloping diabetes as had it in my last pregnancy, all clear now, so am really going for it now as i dont want to be medicated or at worse having to inject insulin.

The weird thing is, I lost over 3stone after my second daughter was born and was a size14/16 and i have no idea how that happened, but a year later i was back to a 20/22.

Hi Misdee, you did really well after your daughter was born, you should be proud of that and it proves that you can do it :)
I will work my BMI out and see what it is. I wonder what happens if I need authorisation from my GP but she won't sign it as I know some of there are opposed to VLCD's, hmmmmm I wonder.
I too am at risk of developing Diabetes as I have PCOS and you can get Diabetes from that so currently take Metformin for that but it's not one of the contraindication medications so I think I will be ok.
I hope I don't need the GP auth as that will put my start date back :(

now ms dotts the thing is, and correct me if I am wrong, but you are not asking your doctors permission as you are not medically contraindicated, you are asking them to sign the form to show that you have informed them of what you are doing, well this is how I played it with my doc, who is notoriously difficult and it worked a treat, also if you make the appt to get it signed, dont tell the receptionist that you need to get a form signed as they will probably charge you, the doc on the other hand is more likely to just sign it .
Good luck with the cdc by the way and welcome
nat xx:)

Ah thanks Nat, I will give that a try then ;) Will my CDC tel me whether I need GP authorisation? If I do then does it mean that I can't start the diet until then?
Sorry for all the questions

Yes she/he will do. There is a medical form to be completed and if your BMI is over 40, (use this guide to work out your BMI) cambridge diet achieving your weight
or you have any medical conditions or take any tablets that require the Doctors signature, your CDC will ask you to do that before you can buy the shakes/soups.

Maybe ring up and check with your CDC to be on the safe side - then you can pick up the medical form and have it signed before your appointment with your CDC.

Good luck.

Thanks once again for all of your lovely replies :D It's all lovely and fluffy and nice on here, hee hee!

Kazbro, not far from me at all really :D I too have a lot to lose but we can do this eh!!

I have just heard back from the CDC I emailed and she is seeing me next week, woo hoo! She seems really lovely too, I hunted her down after reading about her and she is a bit further away from me than my local one would be but she seems so nice and that will play a massive part in my sticking to this :D
