Hi all,

Having read many posts and forums re the above I am still perplexed about what are the best sausages to buy , cook and how ?

Generally we eat them on a RED day ( sunday ) and I want something of low syns , occasionally I want a meat free version for a green day , any recommendations ?

Much appreciated in advance !

many of us eat the morrisons eat smart pork sausages 1/2 syn each, I put mine in the oven for about 1/2 hour at 200/220 they do great at that.

Others I have seen mentioned are bowyers 5% fat ones I believe they are 1 syn though.

As for meat free many eat the quorn ones, but everyone i've spoken to don't like them so i've never bothered with them :D

Well I'm vegetarian and on a green day I would recommend:
  • Quorn cumberland sausages (free)
  • Quorn bangers (free)
  • Asda meat-free lincolnshire (1.5 syns)
  • Tesco meat-free lincolnshire (free)
Although the boxes say to cook from frozen I find it better to defrost them and then I just bung them on the George Foreman for a few minutes (they don't take long). You can brush them with soy or worcestershire sauce for extra flavour if you want.

For meaty sausages, I've served Asda Reduced Fat Pork Sausages and also their RF Cumberland ones to friends. They preferred the pork ones of these two but both of these are 1 syn each on red. Again I would just do them on the GF grill.

If I remember rightly the M&S ones mentioned on this thread came out top in a recent SW magazine taste test.

Hope this helps and heading off to bed now!:zz:
