Starter Cubord Shop

:wave_cry: Ok so im starting slimming world on wednesday 27th but i would like to be prepared , I was wondering If anyone has a basic guide to what your first shop should be as in for eg "frylight" (i see that in alot of recipies) as for anything else im not sure. Also what is a good alternative to mushrooms for pastas ect "i think there yuky lol" :) hi btw new to this and omg this site rocks.

You could take a look at the diaries & see if you can find anything which you feel you could eat. See if there's a pattern and just buy enough food in to last until you will be able to do a proper shop.

As for basics it would depend which plan you chose to follow SW recommend starting on Extra Easy.

But you will need to buy in healthy extra A's (milk & cheese), and healthy extra B's which there are so many to chose from so again just look at the diaries.

You're obviously determined planning so far ahead, good luck :p

yeah good luck emily, sorry if i sounded snippy at all by saying your best to post in the other section, just thought that you might get more people noticing it there and helping you out.

as michelle was saying though, there isn't really such a thing as basics for slimming world, as your best to look through your starter pack, and see what you like, there is so much you can choose from.

good luck though chick, and sounds like your really focused already, which is always a good start. xx

Hi Emily

It obviously depends on what plan you're going to be following but the things I had to buy at first was stuff like this

definitely fry light! got about 4 of them in the cupboard lol
herbs & spices, invest in a spice rack :D
lots of fruit for snacking on
muller lights or other syn free yoghurts
vegetables
artificial sweetener (own brand stuff is just as good btw)
really light margerine ie flora extra light
bovril / stock cubes
different kinds of vinegars
eggs
meat if doing red or extra easy
dried pastas & rice

Hope this helps & good luck!

Hiya....Normally I just make a menu at the start of a week and buy the ingredients. But here is a list of all the stuff I have as basics or in reserve as low syn snacks! (I need snacks!!)

frylight
very low fat spread
weight watchers malted brown loaf 400g
low fat cottage cheese
bovril chicken and beef for making stock
weetabix
highlights hot choc sachets
Hartleys sugar free jelly
Alpen light cereal bars
Reduced fat cheddar
dried couscous, pasta, rice
baked beans
tinned spaghetti
skimmed milk
low fat super noodles! - more for my other half than me, but free from Syn on Green/extra easy!!

herbs/spices
stock cubes
balsamic vinegar
passata
baked beans
frylight
couscous
pasta
rice
lentils
soy sauce
potatoes
veg
fruit
bread - whole wheat
eggs
milk
ham
lean bacon

lots of things like that, which can be used to flavor recipes etc.

I then buy my meat in costco in big packs, divide it into portions sizes and freeze it in freezer bags, so I can take out when I need it. In my freezer, I have chicken thighs, breasts, drumsticks, extra lean beef mince, pork mince and salmon fillets, which I have frozen up.

Also when I make dishes or soups etc, I also make big portions and then freeze up some of that too, so it is on hand to take out if I need something quick.

Thanks
