Taste awful -treating it like medicine

Hi

I only started Exante yesterday. So far I've had a chocolate milkshake (is it just me or does anyone else think it has a taste of dog biscuit?), a Choc Orange Bar (slightly better), Thai Chicken flavour Soup (horribly sweet) and a Vanilla Shake this morning (added filter coffee and it was just palatable).
I have 8.5 stone to lose so am going for Total Solution with three packs a day. Actually not feeling hungry this morning, so thinking I might be able to do this. I have never really tried to lose weight before, and am hoping that this will be the one and only time I have to.
Considering doing Exante for a month as a kickstart then going on to calorie counting normal food and aiming for 1000 calories/day. Has anyone done this or does anyone have any advice for a novice dieter? Thanks.

Its funny how your tastes change. WHen I first tried Exante last April I found all the shakes really bland, in fact, I would have been hard pressed to tell you what flavour I was drinking. This time around, however, I love the different flavours and find them just right.
I wasn't keen on the bars and found them like cardboard. This time around I love them.
Just give your tastebuds a chance to get used to them.

Good luck.

Gotta say the smell of the tomato soup this morning made me gag! Most of the others are ok though. I'm only doing this till May and then i'm swapping to another programme to maintain after the refeed.

I must be really freaky! I actually quite like all the shakes, soups and bars. OK if I could chose anything in the whole wide world to eat, clearly they wouldn't be my first choice, but back in reality and being on a VLCD, I think they're pretty good!!

I don't really think of them as food, but a reasonably pleasant way to get the nutrients I need to keep healthy whilst losing weight quickly. Just about being in the right place in your head - as we all know!

I like them too. I think it does reflect your mental attitude.I wouldn't really fancy tomato soup in the morning though ! I love it at teatime. I wasn't keen on the Thai chicken and kept them back for last as I wasn't really looking forward to having them. I contacted customer service and they immediately replied and have agreed to swap them for one I like. Very impressive customer service from Exante.

I started Exante yesterday and i had the choc shake - no taste :sigh: and the banana - vile :sigh: :jelous:
the problem i have is i was on CD and jumped ship due to cost and the CD shakes are yummy

But its loving the taste of food that got me overweight in the first place so i figure this is a means to an end :D

I personally would not come of a TFR plan to do 1000cals a day diet, as the results will be slow, wheras with a TFR you are pretty much guaranted to lose at least 1 stone per month ;)

Good luck in whatever you choose to do

try them hot with some tablet sweeteners. Much improves the flavour.

I've found the taste improves as you get used to them. I thought the shakes were really bland when I first tried them, I had got used to Avidlite which are a lot stronger IMO. As someone above said, I wouldn't choose a VLCD shake in the 'normal' world but as a way of ensuring my nutrients I am very happy with Exante.
I have recently stopped shaking the shakes and am now using just 200ml water and my Bamix hand blender. I'm able to aerate it up to the top of a 500ml beaker and can eat it like a mousse (not quite as thick but definitely spoonable, feels like a real treat). Means I have to driink an extra glass of water to make up for it but its worth it.
