Anyone ever tried cooking their fried eggs in the sandwich maker? Absolutley cracking lol, no really they cook perfect, no sticking, just lovely fried eggs. I have tried many ways to get the perfect egg and its a bit hit and miss in the frying pan with spray oil. even chucked in a tomato on the other side this morning save dirtying another pan.

I have a cheapie toastie maker! only like the cheapie ones. ya know the ones where the tastie comes out looking like a clam shell.

how do u get the eggs out?

Haha! I love this!
I'm blimming useless at cooking fried eggs, especially with fry light, I end up trying to cook the top of the egg in the oven and I always forget and end up with an egg I could make a handbag out of.

Great tip! Our George Forman needs replacing and I want to get the one with a flat plate to do eggs on...same material isn't it? Fried eggs are hard with Fry Light (for me and Esme at least) so this is fab...thanks! x

I give it a really light spraying, gently put eggs in and I wouldnt try to put large eggs in coz think it would overflow, put lid down and lift to see if you want soft or hard. They slip out really easy if you just lift out with a wooden spoon or tilt toaster slightly, and they are soft not that horrible rubbery taste. enjoy. I just ate mine with white Nimble.lovely. never eat white bread but I remember everyone saaying how lovely it was and Hubbie bought it this so gave it a go.

I make perfect fried eggs with fry light wthout having to flip them over or using a grill. I have a saucepan lid that fits on top of my frying pan perfectly. I spray pan as normal and fry the egg, the lid on top ensures the top of the egg is cooked :) Is a tip my mum taught me many years ago

Yes this works a treat if you find the top of the egg is still undercooked. But i usually find I don't even need to do this.

am i the only person who hates runny eggs hehe :D, i can't stand the yolk runny and have to make sure mine is cooked right through. xx

I LOVE runny eggs. I have been known to chuck an egg if the yolk breaks in the pan because I know it will cook hard LOL.

Oh yes, I hate hard fried eggs - defeats the whole purpose of a fried egg if you ask me! Runny yolks are a must!

I invested in a good non stick pan. Fry light works just fine. The secret is having a quality non stick pan to begin with I think. I like the yolks a bit runny too, but don't like them cooked only on one side, so when the first side is cooked, I flip it over and turn off the heat. The pan is quite heavy gauge so retains its heat for a good while. So the egg continues to cook even though the flame has been turned off. I leave it like that for a minute or so and it's ready to serve! They just slide straight out of the pan when I tilt it over my plate. Mmmm....

Im sure in the book tho it says an egg cooked with oil is only 1/2 syn anyways,, i like proper fried eggs in fat :)

Mmmm I love fried eggs never thought of doing them in water what a good idea!

A tip for boiled eggs, bring water to boil and put in the egg, put a lid on the pot and turn off the heat (I have gas so it's instantaneous with electric you would have to move plates) with a medium to largish size egg I set the timer to 7 mins. The yolks still runny with the very outside of the yolk cooked and the white cooked through. You'de have to experiment as to how you like your eggs, and the size you normally buy.

I find my boiled eggs are runny and perfect at 6 and a 1/2 minutes. I pop the eggs in when the water is already buddling. Took me a few attempts get it just how I like it :)

Not really on topic, but kind of..... I used to do egg toasties in my mums toastie machine, you need to be quick for it to work but they're lovely. Just put one slice of bread on the hotplate, crack an egg onto it and quickly put your top slice of bread on and close the toastie machine. I used marge on the outer sides of the bread to stop it sticking. Not sure how long they take, probably a few minutes?
