food for thought - MASSIVE LOSS

mod-karen79

rainbows holiday buddy :)
a woman weighing 12 1/2 stone went to my consultants other class last week and lost....

wait for it......

.....13 1/2 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O unbelievable! she's not a new member either!

her secret was she didn't eat anything unless it has a S or SS symbol next to it!

....think i'm gonna look into planning a weeks menu like that. would be a good challenge!

 No flippen way!!!

wowzers, that's a pretty awesome achievement. Is losing that much in a week really healthy though? I mean did she still have HEA's and syns or just S and SS foods? Cos that's not a balanced diet, and she could be at risk of gaining some or all of it back if she stops that kind of eating...

good on her though!

Yes I think we can all agree that that is an incredible loss!! Howeverrrr, surely that can't all be fat! I thought that it was impossible to lose more than 3lb of fat per week (unless you are very obese to start with and have lots to lose or are exercising like mad) Surely the rest must be fluid and muscle wastage?! Correct me if I'm wrong please!X

13.5lbs is a huge loss, and a big achievement - heck just eating S or SS foods for a week is a huge achievement in itself regardless of the loss.

However, I wouldn't say losing that in a week is healthy, especially if she's not a newbie (i.e. can't just be water retention).

Taking into account her weight too - I would warn people to not aim to duplicate this.

I'm not taking from her - it's a great loss - but myself I think it's dangerous to do too often if you get my meaning?x

Yes, you can lose more than 3lbs of fat a week, though of course with every diet there is usually some lean loss too.

But agree with you that much of it will be water with this lady.

BTW, I had a 12lbs weight loss one week on SW, and it wasn't my first week. Mind you, I had plateaued for weeks and weeks. Must have had rotten fluid retention which just suddenly whooshed  The class was gobsmacked as I'm sure people thought I was cheating :(

There was a man in my group who lost 13lb in one week. He wasn't even very large to start with but he made a huge pot of pasta (SW recipe) at the start of the week and ate the same thing for each meal of the week. Needless to say that's not healthy or sustainable and he put it back on again.

All I can think of is Peter Kay...

"14 stone in a day!"

Well done, I think the only way you could cheat mind you, is to chop your leg off or something to get results like that.

Well done that woman, bet her motivation is on the high side this week then lol. Be interested to see what she does next week, let us know hun.

I hope she keeps it off.

On paper it looks great, but imo SW is all about the long haul ... and the end goal. I can't help think a massive loss like this will

a) possibly make GOOD future losses (1 or 2lb per week) look insignificant and effect the drive and focus you have for the plan

b) mostly come back on within the next 2-3 weeks when you DO follow the plan correctly, effecting those WIs and having the same effect as above.

Given the choice to lose a stone in one week, but then face difficulties over the next 6 weeks; Or to lose 2lb a week for 7 weeks and still be fully focused and in the zone as it were, I am taking the latter every time.

A woman in my group lost 12lbs one week - she just weighed and left, you should have seen the herd of people running after her to find out how!
She said she had stopped drinking her 2litres of 'proper' coke a day, and had been going to the gym.
Since then she has been having a steady 1-2lb loss per week.
