Going away next weekend-advice needed!

Getting married July 2011
Hiya guys,

I'm going away next weekend to one of the hotels I'm considering for my wedding.

We'll be eating in their restaurant to get an idea of the style/quality etc, I've looked up the menu of the restaurant and I've got myself in a bit of a flap tbh!

I'm a vegetarian so my choices from the menu are somewhat limited and the WW advice is not helpful...like have a steak or penne arrabiata...

The only starter I can have is

Grilled herb marinated goat’s cheese
with Caramelized onion with beetroot vinaigrette

marinated means oil, caramelized means oil and vinaigrette means oil, not to mention the b****y cheese! What'd you think? 10 Points?? Honestly??

I don't eat fish, but I did up until recently and I have said that I'd be flexible on the fish thing in order to make WW work so my choices for main are

Pan fried halibut
Grilled herb marinated baby potato with fennel, saffron & orange vinaigrette

Risotto of wild mushroom
Cêpe sauce with wilted rocket & truffle oil

I was thinking, the halibut was probably 8 points and the risotto about 9??

I have a sweet tooth but thb don't think dessert is really an option...OH will probably indulge in lemon tart. Would one bite of that be 2 points??

I will probably have a vodka and diet coke and a half bottle of white wine too.... 5 points??

I will be going for long walks around the beautiful grounds, so probably at least 4 activity points will be earned.

I was thinking I'd have 0 point soup at home on Sat before I left and porridge in the hotel on Sunday morning?? Can't quite figure out what to have on Sunday for lunch and worse luck I'm going to my OH's parents for sunday dinner, I can request something light, but that'll just bring it down to 12 points.

Any advice/kick up arse would be appreciated.

Love Guen

When is the wedding? I suppose from a points perspective the soup prior to going would be the best option. And possibly take your own food to the inlaws, im sure they would understandsorry im no hhelp ref the menu

Is there any way you could avoid a starter at all?

If not like the pp said what about the soup option...you could always ask.

With regards to the fish too you could possibly ask for just plain veg to accompany it. They usually are happy to accomodate if you ask.

Remember you can try saving 4 points each day to give you that extra bit of leeway.

If it was me i would try just having 1 glass of wine with the meal and the rest of the drink voddy and diet coke as its way less points

hope you enjoy the weekend away.

xx

I was thinking I'd save 24 points (12 saved and 12 activity) and have a 0 point breakfast and 0 point lunch.
That way I could have 47 points for dinner.
I reckon if I avoided bread I could probably have 3 courses for that, one glass of wine and vodka and coke.

The following weekend I'll be eating in Gordon Ramsey's in Powerscourt (my xmas present) so I better get used to saving my points!

viki_ww, my wedding is in about 18 months, just trying to figure out where!

vgstar44...that's a good idea about the wine/vodka. Thanks!

wine isnt that heavy on points tbh you wont save much by sticking to vodka, if wine is your preference its 1 point for 100ml so youre only talking about 2 or 2.5 for a largish size glass.
