OMG I feel awful

Iv'e put on a bit over xmas so I thought I would do CD for a bit to get it off :-(.

OMG I have never felt so ill in all my life, I am wondering if I can continue. This is the worst I have fealt ever! Never did I feel like this when I went on CD back in 2007.

I have just read this on the Atkins forum, so it explains why I feel crappy, as CD works in the same way but it give you your vitimims unlike Atkins. I have to travel back to the UK as I am in France at the moment so I need to make a decision if to continue of not. I feel so so tired, cranky, sick and spaced out. I am on day 7 now.

Any advice on getting through 2nd time first two weeks would be great xxx

From the Atkins website:

During the Induction Phase of the Atkins Diet members have been known to complain of symptoms such as weakness, nausea, headaches, and dizziness -- to mention a few.

After starting the Induction phase, members should know that these symptoms are very common. Many people go through this anywhere from the first three days to the first 2 weeks. They blame the diet for making them feel awful; decide it's "unhealthy" and then they quit.

In reality, the symptoms are withdrawal from sugar. Sugar acts like a drug in the system and on brain function. Make no mistake about it -- you will go through some form of withdrawal when you remove it from your diet. How severe the symptoms depends on the person and how much sugar you were routinely consuming in a day (and remember, the body considers white flour, bleached rice, etc. the same as a sugar.)

We encourage our members to do a "clean" Induction. Induction is designed to switch your body from burning carbohydrates for energy to burning primarily fat for energy. Fat burning helps control your appetite. Withdrawal symptoms caused by food addictions may occur but will subside within a few days. By the end of the first week most people find that they have more energy and feel better.

Hang in there! As bad as they seem, experiencing withdrawal symptoms is really good news. DANDR says that the more severe your symptoms, the more you stand to gain from abandoning the food that is causing them. Induction will just be the first step of a natural progression to your permanent way of healthy eating.

aawww. that doesn't sound ok at all!

-If you're feeling really bad, have you seen a GP/got medical attention?
-Do you know it's CD related? could it be something else unrelated?
-If you're on SS, have you tried changing to SS+?
-Are you drinking enough water?
-Are you having all your packs? are you having 4?
-Did you get clearance with your GP that you're medically 'fit' to be doing CD?

Maybe you need to consider not being on it? Have you talked it through with your CDC?

Hugs!!! no-one needs to put themselves through risk of physical harm - you have to keep yourself safe :)

Love xx

Does that mean you have access to some good support?
I'm sure you can find all the best answers deep down inside - you just have to listen to yourself... :)

All the very best xxx

I am a CDC and I lost 8 stone on it a few years back and have a bit to loose around a stone.

I just forgot how hard this diet it :)

I think after you have lost allot on the diet going back on it is harder than the 1st time. I think I now know why my restart clients feel the pain. x

i acctually felt worse on my first time with cambridge than on restarts, my first time all i could do was lay on the sofa and hope to god i wouldnt throw up from the migrane the first week induced
i just loaded up on paracetamol and tried not to do to much ( not so easy with a sick toddler at the time )

for me it did ease considerable after that week and i got some more energy by the end of the second but if your feeling particularly unwell then do you have a doctor there you could get a check up with?

Hey Bunny, I remember you from the first time around (I remember when you got to goal!) welcome back :) and I know how you feel... I deffo feel worse this time than I did the first time. But you can do it - it's only a stone to lose, not really a great deal, you'll be there in a couple of weeks easy!!

Stick with it hun xx

Thats so true. 1st time was so easy for me. Each time I restart it seems to get harder.
Well done your story is fantastic

I remember you too lovely - you can do it too. Well had some chicken and loads of water so I am feeling fine now.

Got to catch the fat it before it gets out of control.

I am afraid once a food addict I will always be, it's just being a thin food addict which is the challenge!
