Hi guys,

I would like to start jogging, i assume CD should not affect this?

I will hardly be doing a 5 mile sprint! lol! Do any of you jog/run? I will start very slowly and imagine it will take me a good 2 months to build up to anywhere like 2 miles/30 mins. Does it affect weight loss?

The other question i have is, is it okay for over weight people to start doing this??? i didnt know if it would be too much pressure on my joints?

xx

Hi,

When I did CD last year I used to use my airwalker a lot and I used to go swimming twice a week, I think the key is to start slowly and to listen to your body. If you start to feel shaky your over doing it, so need to slow down. You said that you are going to start slowly so I would give it go, just becareful.

I guess that it would help with your losses as you would be burning more energy, however you may also build up muscle which is heavier it would be best to ask your cdc.

I'm no expert just thought I would add my opinion.

Good luck x x

yeah thats what i thought, will make me heavier, but then i also thought it would help my overall shape, i dont know, i think i will ask my CDC, i wont do it for at least another 3 weeks, i will get into 10's first and see how i feel i think. thanks for your help though xxx

Just a thought it might be best to try and walk it first and work up from there - walking, power walking, half jogging and half walking. You need to get your body used it first i think you would be less likely to experience a injury that way as well. I find exercise very difficult on this diet - as I always feel really hungry afterwards and then there is always that temptation - well I must of burnt so many calories surely a little bit of this wont hurt. But thats just me especially with swimming.

I think this question gets asked about twice a day at the moment. It's great to see so many people wanting to exercise. I think we need a sticky for it.

Tinks - I'd guess at least part of the reason you were hungry is because you were exercising in a high heart rate zone. When you exercise at this level, your body looks for glycogen first. As it didn't have any of that, it sent you a reminder signal to eat. If you were exercising in a lower heart rate zone, ie walk, you may not have had this.

Yeah, although i love swimming, im a confident swimmer and i used to go alot, i will swim fast enough to get out of breath and push myself, afterwards i have never been really hungry, not that i can remember although that did affect my weight loss!!! The other thing is that my CDC askes me to eat a small amount of protein when i do excercise so my body doesnt think im starving it! like you said about the cals- you burn them all away otherwise! I planned to walk 5, jog 1/2 mins and very slowly increase that everyweek whilst slowly reducing the walking mins..

I noticed you had a low weight loss in your mass swimming week. Have you noticed a difference in your losses betwen weeks where you ate the extra protein and swum vs not eaten the extra protein and just stuck to plan?

From a nutrition point of view, I'm not convinced that that bit of protein would stop your body from starving but hope you have a plan that is working for you.

thanks laura - it makes sense!!!

the answer to that is yes and no! back a few months ago i had 3 weeks where i went back to swimming and ate protein, if i remember rightly i lost 12 lbs in just under 3 weeks, i think iam going to jsut carry on as iam and loose more weight ans start excercise as a maintaince thing x
