Coping with a disappointing loss!

Hi All,

Wanted to know what keeps people going when you have a low loss. Have been doing LL 100% since day 1 and this week I'd only lost 2lbs. LLC put it down to my monthly cycle but I don't have one to speak of cos I have PCOS and no TOTM's.

I know 20lbs in 4 weeks is good and I feel much better for it but most people in my class have a lot less to lose and still lost 4lbs despite admitting to cheating a bit! :jelous:

Just feel a bit frustrated and where I'm normally looking forward to the next week, I'm just dreading another week of abstinence. I've got such a long way to go!!!!!!!

Sorry for the moan.
Any thoughts would be greatfully received.

Hiya Julie,
first of well done on your weightloss to date, and sticking to the plan 100% :D

I know it's dissapointing to have a lower weightloss, but it will even out in the end, bet you have a bigger loss next week:p Our bodies are all different, and unfortunately don't drop the lbs as fast as we'd like!! Bet you will have lost inches, have you measured yourself???

Stay strong and try and look your loss over a month rather than weekly:)

You could try upping your water, within reason tho, don't go mad!!

Keep shaking

Take all your measurements! That's the best thing I can recommend. We retain water from time to time regardless of whether it's TOTM or not, particularly if we haven't drunk enough water or if we've done more exercise than usual, but sometimes for no apparent reason at all! It's unfortunate, but it's worth bearing in mind when you have a 'low' loss (let's face it, 2lb of fat is still fantastic!). :)

2lb is a good loss. I weighed out 1lb of uncooked rice and stuffed in into the leg of my daughters old wooly tights. then snipped and sewed the end. now i use it as a stress ball kinda thing. its always close to hand and i can feel that 1lb looks a lot and weighs a fair amount too! i would never be gutted at losing only 1lbs now. xxxxxxx

lol!! i'll make u one mate. its also very useful for throwing at husbands :D xxxx

It's not a good idea to compare to others at the meetings. Particularly if they have been 'cheating' and apparently getting away with it. To be sure, it WILL catch up with them eventually, and just makes the journey harder.

Do a thought record to find out what's going on in your head. It's really useful.

Keep focused on YOUR journey, on your dream for the future (a slimmer, healthier you?) and disregard any of the negative stuff.

Good luck!

In that case put a brick in it....... :D

LOL! was actually thinking u could soak the rice in water before throwing it... :D

Thanks Everyone,

Will take all your advice onboard. Gonna measure myself, up the water a little bit and visualise the lbs as blocks of lard. Not sure I will manage to make myself a rice ball but love the idea!!!!!! (Minus a brick of course)

Thanks again for all your lovely replies, I've had myself some lovely mushroom soup and a litre of water for my lunch and feel more positive again.

Cheers

One of the things I've found earthshatteringly motivating is, when I'm in a supermarket, to get bags of sugar equal to my weight loss and hold them. So scary and yet great!

I lost 2lb in my fourth week and lost 5 in my next, so it reallly does all balance out.

i think that's a great idea karen....

its also very useful for throwing at husbands....:rotflmao: Love it!!

Julie Don't look at the negative thing about how well you have done so far, look forward to next week i'm sure it will show up then....

I lost 1 and 1/2 one week then 8 the next! go figure! no period, no cheating, 100% followed the diet - stick with it

Like Ameythist did with a small and then a large weight loss - I lost 2lb one week which was then followed by a 6lb and then by a 4lb. Don't let it get you down - it will all average out over time.

Thanks for that, I'm still planning on sticking to it 100% and I'll hope that the loss catches up with me on my Tuesday weigh in. Like AmandaJayne says, I need to concentrate on my own journey and not other peoples because its very important for me to become a healthier and happier person.

Its an achievement in itself to have stuck 100% to the programme so far, my relationship with food was at an all time low when I started, constant bingeing and putting on weight. I'm a naturally pessimistic person, that'll have to change!!! and I think I was looking for excuses to let me eat!!! I used to do that a lot, give myself the excuse to eat. But thats not going to happen this time. I'm going to make sure of it.

Thanks again for all your lovely comments. Will let you know how much I lose on Tuesday.

Hello

I have lost on average 3 pounds a week. In reality this means that one week I lost 0.9 and then 2.2 3 days later and then 3.3 4 days later. It is hard to focus when you have a slow week but like the others have said look at your monthly losses. Also even with the biggest binge I bet it took you longer to put on 2 lbs a week!

That's how I look upon it. It took me 8 months to put this on and 2 and a half months to take it off!

Good luck and keep up being positive. I'm off to make myself a sock friend too!!!
