Aww Kazbro, aren't family awful, just ignore them, you are doing this for you not them.
I bet they change their mind when they see how well you do on this diet & how good you're going to look.

Good luck

Cherry

I know how you feel, and I can't trust myself to tell my family. Only my husband and a few close friends know that I am doing this, and I prefer it that way at the moment. My family just know that I am healthy eating!! Alot of fish and Chicken! That is the only way I can get through this. Then once I become a CDC then I will tell them cos then they can join!Don't get disheartened, once they see the weight come off they will want to join!!!Love

It must me hard when your family are against it thank goodness mine are all behind me I do think that its true when they see you losing a few stone and see you can walk better and have more energy I am sure they will change their minds! Just rememeber you are doing this for you so even if they dont agree with it as long as your hubby is with you on it they will have to deal with it! try and not let it affect you x

Let them wait a couple of weeks, they will see for themselves it works!!! I only told hubby - he pays for it, lol - no one else. After two weeks my parents visited, they could see the difference, (I WAS 18st 7lbs) I'd dropped a dress size already!!! I only told them then as my CD packs were on the worktop & they would see them. One sister won't be seeing me 'til August & boy she will be suprised!!!
Stick with it, your success will shut them up & if you need support there's always PLENTY here!xxxxx

Hey Kaz. Easy for me to sit here and tell you to ignore them - but thats just what you should do. If they cant be supportive it will be a tad more difficult mentally for you (unless you're like me and have a 'F*ck 'em' attitude! You do what you KNOW is right for YOU. And when the weights comes tumbling off make sure its YOU who decides your ideal size and not others telling you '...you dont need to diet anymore you look great as you are..' cos you will get that (jealousy heheheh!)

Good luck and everyone on here is so supportive we are always here for you 24/7 365 xx

TT

thanks ladies
they have always seen me as fat, you know the jolly old fat girl who laughs at herself and can take a joke
well what they dont see is me crying cos i cant get into my jeans or, me out of breath every time i climb the stairs

ttey68 do you know you are right about the jelous bit, some of the peopel that said dont do it are fat themsleves and i think they know deep down i am finally getting my lardy arse sorted where as they will still be yo yoing on their so called healthy eating diets verses mcdonalds

cheers everyone you have mae me feel better already :D

Hi Kazbro

CD, LL & alike is full and nutrients and giving our bodies what it needs to lose weight and be healthly with it, the problem is friends and families hear you are on a VLCD & just worry because they don't understand........

Try to explain that you know what you are doing and would like their support not them being negative has it is not helping you....

I'm having a problem with people at work, they keep telling me that i shouldn't carry on dieting as i will get obsessed and i've lost enough weight. I just tell them that i know what i'm doing and i have the backing from my doctor...

Good luck hun, remember we're all here for you...:grouphugg:

Hey Kazbro.

Dearie me......did you ask for their opinion? If not....tell them you don't want it. In a few weeks when you are skinnier and happy and have energy and your skin is looking great they will be whistling a different tune. This diet is used in some obesity clinics and doctors surgeries and has been going for over 20 years. It has been tested to the limit and has been found to be safe an effective.

I really think educating your family will help, afterall they've had healthy eating and excercise and losing very slowly dummed into their heads as the only way to safely lose weight.

Funny how people think they have a licence to comment on your weight when you are slimmer - you are getting too thin etc. Didn't ask their opinion. Don't want it. Grump grump grump from me!!

xx

Hi - I just told people I was going on a meal replacement diet approved by my doctor. Once theysaw how well I was looking and that i wasn't fainting all over the place they started to ask for details!

Some of my work colleagues have delighted in telling me that as soon as I come of this VLCD I shall regain all my weight and more in no time. How's that for support and encouragement. They can all kiss my shiny hiney! Don't listen to the negative nay-sayers, just get more determined! Angela x

angela thats exactly what i am at the moment
""DETERMINED""
i will show em all
i`m hoping by sept to see a big change in me
they can then stand there with there mouths to the floor while i walk past em
i am going to get a complete new me i have even been picking out a new hair colour for when i`m thin
i never dye my hair but i want to look great and hide the grey

Im glad to hear that you are feeling determined as that will help you see this through. By the time you have got about 6 weeks in they will be seeing the difference in you.

Its a shame that they cant be more supportive, the only thing left is to prove them all wrong, in a way that may help keep you strong, for me there is nothing better than suceeding when others think you will fail!!! (its that attitude that has kept me on the straight and narrow)

One of the things I used to say when I was told the the diet was unhealthy or even dangerous was "strange because my doctor is fully supportive and is in total agreement with me on this". That comment more than some of my others has stopped people with their hurtful comments.

You can do this and above all when you start getting the results you will be proud of yourself for staying strong. Jump on here anytime you are low as we all help each other.

Ignore them Kazbro, they are just scared by something they know nothing about. I had the same reactions - to get round it tell them that the doctor recommended it to you, thats what I said.. a little white lie.. but I did have to go to the doctors for health check (I did two weeks on LL before switching to CD), so I just sort of exaggerated the doctors input! It worked tho.. and once they all saw the weight fall off and me look healthy and thin again they were all chuffed.

It is much better for your general health to lose the weight, even a doctor would agree with that, how you go about it is your business really. I think they should applaude you for doing something about it. Well done :D

OH and good luck with your weightloss :D

People know im on a diet but they dont really know the workings behind it. When I say to people how much ive lost some say you must be on one of these mad fad diets or that I must be constantly starving but I just say well I feel better than ever, am not hungry and getting great results. Most people are just impressed by the amount of weight lost and the fact you dont look ill.

At the end of the day your doing it for you.

i have to agree with you it is bad explaining it to people. My friends and family have been really supportive which i'm very lucky with however i work for fruit company.........

Try telling them that a diet that doesnt include my '5 a day' is good for me........its been hard but hopefully when they see me looking healthier they will be supportive......

Ah thats quite unlucky that people at your work arnt supportive.

Fortunatly where I work the expected diet of the staff is pot noodles and cake. So my CD packs fit in fine :)

I ignore them all! When I started, only my husband knew, and after 3 days he told me how proud he was of me (and I melted and remembered why I married him!).anyway have now told a few more people. A couple of my friends are really worried about it, but my boss was the funniest. She said yesterday that she had noticed I had lost weight and asked how-I explained the diet and she looked horrified and told me to be careful. I explained about ketosis and the possible feelings of euphoria etc and not feeling hungry and how happy I felt etc. Today she said she had noticed how much more cheerful I am and how my mood seems lighter and how much better I look-well that did it for me. this diet is the easiest I have ever done and has made me a happier person. I know I will have to work hard to keep the weight off, but the idea of doing a 1000 calorie based diet for 2 years was never going to happen for me (depriving myself for so long) so 8 months of Cambridge seems like a totally sensible solution.

Anyway-ignore them and feel proud of yourself for doing something positive! We should all celebrate the fact we are taking control of our lives

Chantalxx

Hi Kazbro

Ive just started CD, on day 3, previously done lipotrim but didnt do any maintance.

Im deliberately not telling anyone apart from my hubby as I know from previous experience how people can be very negative.

You know the diet is safe and thats all that matters and when they see how happy you are and how good you look they will be saying something totally different.

Sallie
