Pancakes

I will do this!!!
I really want to try these tonight but do you have to make 1 pancake? is there not enough batter to make more?

Which recipe are you using?

Syn free pancakes;

Separate an egg into two bowls - white and yolk.

Whisk the white and add 3 tsp sweetner (or to taste), whisking til white and meringue-ish
Add some vanilla essence to the yolk.

Add the yolk to the white and fold together - this is your batter.

frylight a pan and add all of the batter, spreading it gently with the back of a spoon.

be gentle - this pancake is fragile! leave completely alone until you can slide a fish slice (etc) underneath, carefully turn it over to cook the second side. again, leave it alone until done, then lift it out onto your plate and add your toppings and enjoy!

You can always double the recipe I guess, but yes I think I saw it only 'serves 1' though this may mean that it makes 2 pancakes.

Gosh, yeah. I remember everyone went mad for this when it was first posted, but I never got round to trying it. Might have a go tomorrow.
I seem to think it only made one, too. Try it and see, and let us know!

I made these a few days ago, and used one egg for one pancake. You could use the batter to make more small ones (scotch pancake size), but I wouldn't make them too thin as you may have trouble flipping them over.

Enjoy!

i wasnt particularly fond of mine when i made them tasted too much like sweetened egg for my liking

I felt the same, but I didn't use the vanilla because we didn't have any. I think I'll try them again with some vanilla as I do love pancakes and a free version would be fab!

Just finished my pancakes and id give them 5/10. They were alright but they just tasted like slightly sweet omelette, quite eggy. After coming on here though iv realised i forgot the vanilla essense so im going to give them ago again tomorrow with the nvanilla and see what they're like.

I make these all the time! Or whenever I have time in the mornings, usually at the weekend. For 2 of us I use 3 or 4 eggs. Vanilla essence definitely helps them and the taste. I had bananas and toffee muller with them this morning (snow day so I had time!) and they were delish. I was inspired by the new magazine, which suggests you make them with flour and syn them, but i'd rather have them for free. The other thing the recipe suggested was choccie sauce, and I guess you could do that with real chocolate or with thick hot choc (options, highlights etc) and syn that too, but like I say, i'm keeping the syns down at the moment.

Alternatively good old fashioned lemon juice and sweetner is yummy! Or berries and plain yog...the list goes on, i luv 'em! x

I love them and have them a lot. I tend to just use 1 egg for myself and make 3 little pancakes which I serve in a stack with whatever I'm having with them. They look quite impressive like that and you don't have to worry about folding or rolling them up!!!! ;)
They do taste a bit eggy and wouldn't be so nice on their own but by the time you add nice things to them like greek yoghurt and fruit or sliced bananas and maple syrup they taste gorgeous!
I even leave the sweetener out sometimes and make savoury ones and serve with crispy bacon and a drizzle of maple syrup American style - yum!! :)

Hey, that's not a pancake, that's a soufflee omelette!! At least, that's what we used to call them when I learned to make them at school (and yes, that is a long time ago). I seem to recall that we put sugar in them and served them with apricot jam and icing sugar!
