What to do with all this snow?

Just Peachy

Slowly But Surely
I've always enjoyed walking and even jogging, not that I've done that any time recently...

I can't afford the gym and even if I did, I wouldn't go. I like to do things while getting some fresh air. But with all this snow, what other things can we do?

Also, is walking enough? My cardio's dead (out of shape and quit smoking), won't be able to run for a little while without wanting to die..

Keep seeing the "snow" posts. We're very lucky here. About 20 dgs in the day. Its really nice seeing the snowy pics on telly. But I prefer the sun.

You can really go off some people!

You can send the snow my way! Here in the states there is snow EVERYWHERE, even places like Texas. But here in North Carolina there has been no snow.

Walking should be enough to start out with. You can increase how long you walk, or just slowly increase how fast you walk. I always used to walk 2 miles every day until my doctor told me I was not to do that anymore, for awhile at least.

I would have a emergency DVD on standby for when I am trapped in the house! Also, have you consider a jogger trampoline? Cheaper than a running machine, small but highly effective, and the kids can use it too to get fit! Plus it sits there reminding you to workout.

Martina, I'm from Canada so this snow is no problem to me, except here in Newcastle they don't even have snow ploughs, they're sort of just waiting for it to melt... so anywhere I go my feet get horribly wet and it's terribly slippery so.. maybe I'll just wait for it to melt too and walk only when necessary unfortunately for the time being.

KookieDoh, unfortunately I live in halls so there's no room for a trampoline, and I don't even own a telly! Poor student, really lol. Good idea though otherwise.

Awwww no! Poor you!

Do you have a gym on campus? They tend to be dirt cheap and you can eye up the male sports science students! :D

We do but it's actually expensive for international students are really out of the way for me. I used to go to the gym at my other university for a good 2 months until I shacked up with this boy, then all my free time was spent with him. I reckon I must've lost a good 20 pounds then but I wasn't even bothered, just did it cos I can't deal with my stress. Oh boys and what they do to you. Thankfully I don't have that "problem" anymore :D

Does anyone have a Wii? There are some really good exercise games.

Yeah I suppose. It's been raining two days straight now and I'm chuffed! Snow's mostly melted now so looking forward to havning a nice jog outside.

This is actually a great time to embrace our winter weather ha ha if you go walking in the cold and dont overly dress you actually burn a lot more calories as the body not only using them to fuel your walk but also burns calories just to keep your body temperature up :)

if your brave enough that is :)
