How Many Times...

do i have to start a diet before i actually stick to it?

must have tried about a million diets last year including SW (which iv attempted many times before, and is the only diet that actually makes sence to me so why i never get past 2 weeks il never know!)

living off takeaways and binging on sweets and other yummys in between these diet attempts has left me at 17stone, i weighed this when i was 9 months pregnant 2 years ago!

anyone else had a million attempts before they finally got going?

Oh god yes!! I think most people spend time yo-yo-ing before finding what works! It'll just click one day and you'll wonder where the motivation came from, and speed along losing weight without even thinking about it.

Have you started SW now? Good luck if you have, and use forums like this for lots of support! X

I have tried all sorts of diets over a number of years, and I can honestly say that SW is the best of the lot.

It felt like coming home when I started back on the plan on January 1st.

don't think of it as a diet, but we will call it that for the moment, a diet is like quitting smoking, what you need to do is fill yourself up, and then let your will power banish the cravings.

The new year is a chance to start over again. The more you beat yourself up and tell yourself your rubbish and you cant stick to things, will make u believe it and you will never succeed.

don't set your self up to fail, because you will.

How about a buddy? someone on here who can give you support when the going gets tough, if you are both going through the same things you can help and support each other.

P.s if you slip up and have that biccie or that chocolate bar, don't beat your self up about and don't think oh sod it because a big binge will upset your diet, but one naughty choco bar wont do anywhere near as much damage as choco bar a packet of crisp sweet and a takeaway.

your doing great dont let negative feelings ruin your chance for success

Thanks girls!
I started today, should be gooood.
as i mentioned, SW is the only one that makes sence in the long run and I know pretty much inside out AND each meal fills me up for AGES. something sweets crisps and takeaways never does.
but theres always them super strong cravings for 'rubbish' id like to blame all the MSG. i think im going too.
this weight has gotta shift at some point, no better time to start than january right!

good luck to you all!

This is my year ! =]

I have done loads of diets in the past - SW included and never stuck them out and always ended up gaining. I then tried to convince myself I was born to be fat and it wasn't my fault and tried to learn to be happy and fat. Well.....I got to 19stone without realising and then had my turnaround moment.

The difference this time is I decided to do it slowly and steadily- In that past I always wanted to lose as quickly as possible- real crash and burn dieting. This time I set myself a target of half a pound a week after seeing the difference in Fern Britton (I know she had a band, but she lost 4 stone over 2 years- slow and steady) I realised it would take years, but knew with this attitude I could stick to it and reach target.

That was 20 months ago and I have lost an average of 1lb a week consistently and KNOW I will get to my goal this year.

Put aside all thought of the past- there is no point in dwelling on failures. What matters now is how you choose to deal with the present. My story should prove that you CAN do this

Good luck

Hi :) im on day 2 now:) just had a huge jacket and packs of beans and salad :p i love how we can eat all of that!! For free x have u done SW before? X

I'm the same - have done WW a couple of times and this is my 3rd time doing SW. The past couple of times I did SW I didn't stick it out until I got to target, then felt a failure, then felt 'why bother'. This time is different but I'm not sure why. I used to always sabotage my diet - as if I didn't deserve to be successful. This time I'm taking is slow and easy and my head must just be in the right place. I'm determined that I will go EVERY SINGLE WEEK and stay to class. I also think that the EE program is just the right fit for me. I don't feel like I'm 'missing' something from my meals. I feel like I'm getting a balance of EVERYTHING i want and need so no need to go crazy. My goal is to get to target by the end of the year. But if I don't manage that I won't beat myself up! As long as I'm having losses and feeling good about myself!

im trying to go slow too.. Everytime i try and start something.. My stupid brain says quicker the better! Which is stupid i know! this time i am fully positive mode! I AM gonna stick to it and I AM gonna be happy with 1-2lbs a week :)

How many times?

I can only agree with what you have said. I myself am a failed dieter ahving tried thousands of diets since the age of 18. I'm now 41 and like you weigh just over the weight I was when I gave birth to my first child.
Let's make this time work! Good luck and keep at it girl XXX:)
