Maintaing LT loss on GL
Hi everybody!!! Happy new year to one and all. Hope Christmas was good for you whether on the LT train or taking a break from it, like myself.
Well, I am pleased enough with how I got on. I know I have put on about 3-4 lbs over a couple of weeks. That said with one or two exceptions I managed food quite well. I eat sensibly most of the time, eat smaller portions, left food after me and drank moderately. I had a dessert only twice, eat some choccies but this was a small box (300g)of sweets in total as opposed to a whole tin which would be more usual for me. As for the demon drink, I had a few glasses of wine and one or two g/ts every other day. Again, this was much more sensible of me compared to other holiday times!!
I drank loads of water every day and this really helped me. Only once did I feel peckish and have cheese and crackers.
So, all in all, I think I controlled my intake pretty well given that I would use Christmas as an excuse to pig out entirely!!! How I might manage food on the longer term is another day's work.
Tomorrow, it is back to the shakes and flapjacks and 4 litres of water a day. I hope to stick with it till early March. Look forward to seeing how we all do in the coming weeks. Good luck everyone for our endeavours in 2010!!!!

Welcome back Molly! Putting on only 3-4lbs over the holidays isn't bad at all, and the fact that you managed to stay in control must be encouraging for the future. You'll lose that in the next week or so for sure. Did you do a refeed or just "take a break"? Just asking 'cos I reckon I'm about 3-4 weeks away from refeed myself and am a bit nervous about it.
Happy New Year by the way!

Jon

Well done for surviving the break! especially christmas!

Best of luck with getting back on the LT train tomorrow!

Welcome back Molly,

A 3 or 4lb gain isn't a huge amount, so not bad at all, and you will easily lose that at your next weigh-in. It's good to hear that you have enjoyed Christmas & don't regret coming off for Christmas (not that you should) but I am absolutely petrified at the thought of eating again!

That is really good irish molly, especially over Christmas and the New Year! Well done for restricting yourself....you will rid the 3-4lb gain this week.

Well done overall on your weight loss! Phenominal amount!

Jon, I did the refeed pretty carefully for the frst week and gained 1 1/2 lbs. Then I slackened a bit and possibly drank a bit too much, empty calories etc. I reckon if I had had no alcohol and no goodies I would have not gained at all. I was really good on portion control and choices. I eat no red meat other than one beef sandwich. I had prawns, smoked salmon and duck breast(no skin), salads, baked potato, wholemeal bread(no white carbs at all). I definitiely eat a lot less than pre lipotrim. Also factor in that due to the weather I had absolutely NO exercise. I walk a bit but paths were treacherous due to ice so did not risk it.
Don't be afraid, we have to walk in the real world of food again. You have spoken often of using your time on LT to reflect on your eating habits. Keep that thought in your mind and you will be fine. Top tip for me wa keeping up the water. It is a habit I have now go used to and it really helps to prevent you feeling peckish for either food or drink.
My plan when I finish is to go the GL route. I have read a lot of PAtrick Holford's stuff and it makes a lot of sense to me. Hats off to you for staying strong over Christmas. Well done, you will be at goal in no time now.

Clair, fair dues to you for staying with LT over the hols. I came under too much pressure to take a break. I am not sorry as it was a good test of my resolve.
I fared pretty o.k. as I eat a lot less than I normally would have done any other Christmas. I felt very conscious of what I eat and made good choices mostly!!! No white carbs and only fish or white meat, half the spuds, no rice, no pasta, lots of salad with only lemon juice, balsamic and pepper. The drink and the few choccies probably put up the weight!!! No Christmas cake or pudding which I love!!!

Anyway, roll on the next couple of months and hopefully lose another couple of stone!!!!

Thanks love!
I am trying really hard to think about food in a positive and healthy way during this break from eating, but it's not always easy. Sometimes I feel as though I hate food for what it has done to me in the past, then I miss it but I only rarely actually want it. I just feel a bit confused by it all. I LOVE being slimmer and I can't bare the thought of losing what I have achieved. Oh well, I guess I'll have to deal with it soon enough. I'm just going to try to enjoy my last few weeks on TFR. Weigh in today so wish me luck;).

Lots of luck to you Molly - the friends on this forum really help so thanks.

Jon, you will be fine. I know exactly what you mean by being afraid of undoing all the hard work. That feeling is something we need to watch because that is when the pendulum starts to swing in the opposite direction. i.e we get addicted to the diet. This is one thing my doc is adamant about. She feels that any vlcd should be for short periods as there is a danger of becoming reliant on it instead of dealing with our food issues.
For me, the break from food has helped me break bad eating habits. The challenge will be to maintain focus and not revert to old ways.
lots of luck on your WI to day.
