These are seriously good! Made up some of these with bread rolls for a starter on new years eve...and the salmon one i wrapped in smoked salmon slices to make parcels for a starter for Christmas day....

Smoked Salmon pate

1 pack tesco SS slices
Half tub quark
4-5 spring onions
Fresh chives
Squeeze half lemon
S&P

Whizz it all up, job done!

Chicken pate

Tub chicken livers (44p in Tesco! bargain!)
1 onion
1 clove garlic
Couple of tblsp quark
S&P
Mixed herbs & 1 bayleaf
(Add a shot of brandy if you want to syn it!)

Frylight onion, garlic with herbs and bayleaf.
Add livers til cooked - remove bayleaf!
Add S&P, Blitz in blender with quark to taste

These both improve if you can leave in the fridge overnight...

Good with bread, ryvitas, wholemeal crackers...going to try to the salmon on a jacket spud.... Happy blitzing!

That salmon one sounds fabulous.
I have my sister (who works at Sainsbury's) bringing me quark on wednesday, they don't sell it in our Tesco.
They sell *everything* else though!

Can we guess what I'm having Thursday?
LOL!

thank you so much for this - I do miss pate a lot. Do they freeze? Or don't they last long enough:eek:

Not sure about freezing - i don't know how good quark is at freezing - never tried...it may go a little watery perhaps?

Just made the liver pate and I have to say the livers grossed me out a bit during preparation and cooking!! But it tastes gorgeous and the rest is in the fridge for tomorrow :) thanks for the recipe

I love making the smoked salmon pate and I use the packs of smoked salmon trimmings. I get them in Morrisons and Asda and they are about 98p per pack. I blend mine with a tub of quark and it makes a lot and works out at about £1.80 for the lot, what a bargain.
