Top 10 reasons why Cambridge works for me!

A thread I saw somewhere else on "Why I want to lose weight" has inspired me to think about not only why I want to lose weight, but also, why on Cambridge (as opposed to other diets out there). And I have come to the following conclusions:

1) Cambridge will give me results FAST

2) Because of the FAST results, it's easier to stay motivated and stick to it 100%

3) I get to buy new clothes every month!

4) It gives me an awareness of my emotional issues attached to eating and I find ways to deal with these that I should be able to use when maintaining

5) It's the only diet that will get me slim in time for summer

6) It's not like any other diet where you can "slip up" - it's black or white on Sole Source, there's no grey areas, which I find helpful, as on other diets I have been known to "bend the rules" or misinterpret them.

7) No counting calories, carbs, points - its easy

8) Tetras are great when on the go, with other diets there is usually preparation required (whether that is buying something whilst out and then working out points or actually making something to take with you) you can't just pick something up out of the cupboard like a tetra, which results often in buying junk or not eating at all = diet damaged. That doesn't happen when you have the tetras!

9) Because you don't have to be around food at all, it's easier to cope... on other diets you have to make the food, sort out portion sizes, prepare it etc. so there's a lot more temptation.

10) This is my favourite, saved the best 'til last. YOU DON'T EVER GET HUNGRY ON CAMBRIDGE (once you're in ketosis) :D

Wonder if you agree?

Totally agree with all of the above hence why it has worked so well for me. Whenever I have tried a diet in the past it has always taken so long to lose even a couple of stone and so it always seemed such a long journey and I would lose motivation as I had such alot to lose but with cd it has taken 7 months to get the bulk of it off and I now have only 26lb's to go to get to goal. There is no other diet that would have worked so quick and so well for me - I love it, it has really changed my life forever.

'Maintaining'.

That word is what makes me feel weird for some reason...

Is this basically one easy word for...

'Sticking to a new healthier diet and not going back to old ways'?

I tried to explain to hubby that this isn't a quick fix, it's a life change. No one person can live on junk food without putting on weight...

Even him, 6ft 5, was 12 stone... he's creeping up to 14st and he looks much better for it. But that shows how much rubbish he eats now.

I want to lose this weight and eat like I used to when I lived with my mum. Fruit and healthy meals.

Hello ladies, just want to know that once ketosis is established is that when the hunger pangs subside? My keto stick was pink this morning yet im really hungry, its day 3 for me.

xx

Hey NumNums, I use the term "maintaining" in reference to the point when we have reached our goals, worked up the plans and are then just maintaining our goal weights. IceMoose on here is my maintaining role model as he dealt with all his issues whilst on CD and now doesn't even need to try to stay the same weight as it's like his brain has reprogrammed itself. Look him up - he does a weekly newsletter too, it's so helpful!

Jules, yes once you are fully in ketosis you shouldn't feel physical hunger. If the stick is very pale pink it may be that you are only just going into ketosis and therefore although there are ketones present (the things that turn the stick pink) you still have a way to go. I have found in the past in can take anything from 2-5 days to get properly into ketosis and get through any withdrawal symptoms (I tend to get headaches around day 3 and feel quite hungry, but usually by day 4 or 5 I'm fine and dandy). Stick with it hun, the hunger pangs will pass

Thanks wannabe, this is my re-start but i cant remember feeling like my stomach thinks my throat has been slit!!! Day 4 was the worst day for me last time so im dreading tomorrow already!! Ive done everyhing right, ive drank lots of water, kept myself busy, yet im still starving!!!

Aww bless ya, it's got to be mind over matter until it passes methinks - you know you can do it! Sometimes grinning and bearing it is the only thing for it in that first few days... have you tried splitting your packs so you have less but more often?

xx

Like just making half up at a time? I havent but that sounds like a mighty fine idea, I havent felt hungry until now, maybe im just odd!!!!

xx

Ah Becca that's cool. Having been at my goal weight and not been careful about staying there, with the attitude "if it's only a lb or two it's not too bad"... but the lbs turned into stones and I know that I can't keep yo-yoing, so this time I will be actively seeking to maintain my exact goal weight. If I gain, I need to lose that weight again! Everyone has a different approach - you have to do what works for you :)

Jules, yeah you just make up half a pack with half the amount of water, then make the other half up whenever you fancy it. Maybe you're thinking about the fact that you're hungry too much. Is there something you can do to forget about it, that will absorb you totally - like a puzzle or a book or something?

Well being on here keeps me focused and ive got bits and bobs to do in a while so its not like i wont be busy, I KNOW i can do it, ive done it before and felt fantastic so i wont give in, just dont like feeling like i could eat a scabby horse!!!
