WOuld Quark work as a substitute for Creme Fraiche?

HEllo,
I made a pasta tonight from a Jamie Oliver book which used creme fraiche and was wondering if i could use quark instead. If i could i have worked out it would be free on extra easy if i used the parmasean cheese as a healthy extra.
Never used quark before so not sure what it tastes like but imagine it is quite sour in taste.
Caroline.

quark is quite a sour taste not tried it in any savoury dishes as only bought for first time to use in my key lime pie from new mag

This is the type of thing i would do, but as your using for the first time, why not try half & half.

Quark does take a bit of getting used to.

Hi Carrie!

very low fat fromage frais is another option - not so thick as quark and slightly less er, quarky in flavour. Or maybe half quark half from frais? It might also need some decent seasoning added i think! x

You can actually make your own creme fraiche, however it is by using sour cream and whipping cream lol, so not much use.

I know you can get a half fat creme fraiche, maybe you could use that and syn it if the recipe doesnt require a lot of it.

Try mixing equal amounts of quark with low fat natural yoghurt. I used this in a fruit roulade and it was lovely, but should still work in a savoury dish.

I find quark to taste quite like Philadelphia!! I'm not sure what you'd use but isn't creme fraiche sweeter??
