Hi

My mum and dad have said as a crimbo pressie, they will pay for us to go anywhere in the UK for a weekend without the kids!!

Any suggestions for nice places to go that has lots of non food stuff to do?

Hope you all had a nice christmas.

Mel My DH and I love to go to Tallybont on Usk - in wales
about 6 miles from brecon
plenty to do especially if you like walking - but also in the towns there are more things to do in the evenings
we spent a fortnight there in the summer and just walked a lot and wished we had more time - we both came back very refreshed - the pace of life is so much slower than were we live :):)

edinburgh
liverpool

Norwich !!!! Come to Norwich, its a Fine City !!! And not far from the coast.

york or bath are nice romantic couple places

shopping wise i love manchester - the city is great and then there is the trafford centre if you want to go hard-core

the peak district has loads of nice walking/pretty villages

and of course london - you could do the sights, see a show, shop etc etc

where are you and how far do you want to travel? what sort of stuff do you like doing - walking/museums/shopping???

You really haven't said what you both like Mel!

Books? Oxford
Painting? Cornwall
Scenery? Ireland/Scotland
History? York/Winchester
Remote? Isles of Scilly (they did say UK)
Walking? New Forest/Pennines
Gardens? RHS Rosemoor Devon
Theatre? London

Is there something you both like that will have an event on? A music concert, car show, air pageant, meet of some kind?

Wow - you guys know your stuff!!! Im just outside London (nr heathrow). I was thinking Edinburgh, but I dont like the idea it would take me ages to come back if anyting happened to the kids (i know, i should stop worrying for 1 weekend!!)

I like walks with a purpose (like guided tours and stuff). I do like history!! Bath is a good idea!!

Bath is lovely Mel....beautiful river, wonderful architecture, and the baths themselves are worth the tour.

There is a lovely boardwalk along the ricer that is lit at night, very romantic. ;)

Lots of fun little shops, and I had a ball just wandering endlessly around the town.

Also, if you go be sure to go see The Crescent....fantastic building.

Great little pub used to be there anyway called The Moon and Sixpence.

Bath gets my vote!! :D
