Pasta quiche - yuummm!!

I made a pasta n sauce quiche last night for the first time - having a big slice for lunch today and it is gorgeous!! I made it with the cheese & brocoli pasta n sauce, cottage cheese, spring onions, yellow pepper, ham and oregano. Can't believe how cheesy it tastes - and you don't even miss the pastry! Will be a new mid week lunch staple me thinks!

On the same line - how long do they keep in the fridge after cooking? Not that I think it will be in there for long!

We were told the other week, and again last night, that pasta in sauce in a quiche is not a free food, it needs to be synned at the highest value as it's what SW term as food misuse.

Apparently the pasta in sauce is designed to be eaten as a meal/snack in itself and not for bulking out a quiche.

I don't understand the logic but just saying what SW say!

As for how long they keep, a couple of days at most, although they don't last much longer than a day in my house as we all eat them quickly!

I won't use pasta in sauce in a quiche any more, I'll just use veg, eggs, cottage cheese and tuna or ham.

I love pasta quiches and will continue to eat them - when I do make one, I have a slice. I could never eat one in a day! I think that's why SW are now saying we have to syn them as I imagine some people have been eating these in one go or snacking on one over the course of a day and then having slow weight loss. If you eat them sensibly and they are not affecting your weight loss, I can't see the problem in making them still.

Think I'll be going with your reasoning ;-) I was actually thinking as I was making it that I could easily eat a pasta n sauce, a tub of cottage cheese, 1/3 pack of ham and a couple of eggs in ONE day but there is no way I would sit down and eat that whole quiche in one day!!

I know what you mean though about food abuse if it wasn't eaten as part of a meal (but then how does it work if you are eating pasta n sauces as snacks? Surely that would be too much food?)

Any hoo - thanks for pointing it out but I'l see how my weight loss goes this week and if it doesn't affect it then I'm not going to stop making them!

I suppose you could say that about anything really like steak, if you ate steak all day every day you wouldn't lose weight, i spose its about moderation

I love pasta n sauce quiche and I usually make one every week then have it for my lunch over 3 or 4 days. I find it really filling, much more than having a sandwich or a salad.

Yikes!!! I do not understand that????? I ve never tried to make the quiche yet but I do use the pasta in sauce but I add asparigras, sweetcorn, salmon and king prawns to bulk it up a bit and make more of a meal out of it (on extra easy days) so will there be syns in that??? I am panicing now as I had a fudge today too!!!!!!

This is fine as, according to SW, you are eating the pasta in sauce as a meal and not in a quiche.
I really don't understand the logic!!

Ahhh heck I keep hearing about this quiche and wanted to make it and it's not free?

I reallllllly don't under SW logic either. You can eat as many Mullerlights as you like at 100cals each (I know it's not about calorie counting, but it's safe to say calories in need to be less than calories out to lose weight lol)...but you get syn-taxed for combining free foods? Meh!

However, SW works, we all know that...and however weird it may seem they usually get it right :)

I've never synned pasta in sauce before so will have a look and see if worth making the quiche now. xx

I love this phrase - syn taxed!!! Fantastic :D

Let's just not tell Gordy Brown or we'll be in for all kinds of h*ll... ;) xx

Okay so I am really confused now about the whole past n sauce thing, cause ive just looked up a quiche recipe on the SW website and it says:

"Pasta quiche – Free on Green and Extra Easy - Make up a packet of pasta and sauce (Syn-free versions), such as Batchelors Tomato, Onion & Herb Pasta ‘n’ Sauce, pour into the flan dish and then add the cottage cheese mixture."

So im not sure if it is free or not now

we were told at class while back its no longer free but as you say website is not updated. The have not updated the scan bran recepies either to coincide with each slice going up to 1 syn each and I messaged them about that on the feedback bit but nowt done last time I checked.
