Take care during the festive season (drinks)

Sticky

I will succeed!!!
Sorry to highlight something that I know you're already aware of...

...but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take care when out in bars/pubs/clubs this over the holiday period.

2 women I work with (same team) think they had drinks spiked on Friday when out with the lasses from work (glad I couldn't make it now!).

Basically, the others had had a meal out but these hadn't and went out to meet them later. They arrived before the group so stood chatting to the lads in our team (who were out on the boys version). They had a couple of drinks and then went to another pub.

Both say they felt very drunk suddenly despite not having much to drink and cannot recall getting home.

It only came to light this morning what had happened, because luckily they had re-met the guys who had managed to get one of the lasses into a taxi and home safe to her partner.

The other lass however had objected to going home and had wandered off.

She says she recalls being on her bed and seeing a guy's outline - though she thinks she knows him just cannot think who - but cannot obviously be sure. She says she wasn't assaulted though she had no money at all in her bag and that she didn't spend it all that she can recall.

Neither are what you'd call silly or daft and this was not like them at all. The guys at work said something was definately wrong when they met them only 45mins or so after they'd said goodbye because they were 'out of it'.

Both said it felt like being hammered, but neither woke up hungover and one of the girls partners said it wasn't normal for her and didn't look like it was just from having a couple of drinks (both said they only had a few drinks, nothing heavy). He almost took her to hospital he was so worried.

It's really upset them, understandably, and they're going to let the local police know given it could easily happen again and again.

So please - take care. These girls think they were targeted in the first pub when they were either stood in the group with the guys (i.e. thinking they were safe in a group and not watching their drinks on the ledge) or when at the bar which was packed.

Take care!!!

Great post Sticky.
It's a sad but true fact that this happens regularly. Keep your hand over your glass or your thumb over a bottle (or get one of those "spikeys" which you put in a bottle and put a straw through so nothing can be dropped in) and never ever leave a drink unattended.
There are some idiots out there who think it's funny to spike. It is not!!
Take care guys. xx
