Target weight

Can anyone tell me if I decide to get down to the lower end of my BMI weight range would it be any harder keeping the weight off than if I was at the upper end of the range. For example my range is from 8st to 10st 10lbs, I wouldn’t want to get down as low as 8st but I thought 9st would be great, (I was 9st when I got married 35 years ago, and would be great to get back there)
But if when I get there, and find it too hard to stay there, maybe it would be better to stay a little higher at 10st. If I found it hard to stay at 9st will I find it just as hard to stay at 10st?

Hi,

I'm not sure about whether it would be any different whether you got down to the top or bottom of your BMI, but last time I dieted and got to target I was told to lose a bit more than the weight I wanted to stabalise at.

I was happy to get to 9st 7lb and when I got to this weight I though I looked (and I felt) at the correct weight, but I was advised by the group leader to get to 9st 4lb as I would put on a bit when I started to increase my calories on the maintenance.

At 9st 4lb I did feel too thin (my neck and face looked scrawny) but within a week or 2 of increasing my calories to a maintenance level I did go up a little bit and I stabalised at between 9st 6lb and 9st 8lb for years.

It was good advice for me, don't know how other people who have got to target have gone on when changing to maintenance. I think my BMI then was about in the middle of the healthy range.
