Bah freakin humbug!!!

Sticky

I will succeed!!!
I officially hate having a December birthday!!!

Mine is the 18th, so exactly a week before Christmas. As you can imagine, despite making plans well in advance, it's never easy to get people together to celebrate. It's always a hyrbid birthday-Christmas something celebration.

I just got an e-card from a mate which reads:

Merry Christmas babes!!! Have fun!

P.S Happy birthday too - I can't make the drinks now sorry. Left my shopping too late and gotta do it that weekend as too many parties on from now until then. Maybe next year.

Now, I appreciate it's a busy time of year and people are short of cash, so I never expect gifts etc - never had.

But I am cheesed off with always being a P.S something.

I make so much effort for my friends - travelling to see them, thoughtful gifts (usually handmade like a scrap book)...and this 'friend' cannot even send a separate birthday e-card? WTF?

I don't mean to sound selfish or anything, but it's driving me mad this year. My works doo is on my birthday and I have to drive...woohoo. My fave restauraunts were flooded out so can't even go there with OH for a meal and as it's a Friday - had to cancel my party and put it back to January. The few who could make it I'm meeting in Manchester...ME travelling to THEM.

So it's going to be me, OH, best mate and her OH having a meal and then another mate coming out later. Sod the rest of em - I'll have fun. Just fed up with mine never being taken seriously - or the effort I make to attend theirs and plan my own.

Sorry - just fed up after so many years of blah birthdays :-(

Hun, my best friend's bday is on 22nd Dec and my bro is on 14th - so I know how you feel by proxy! Why don't you have a July birthday celebration each year starting from 2010, so on 18th July you have your birthday party for the year and then in December if you can all get together that's a bonus! Just an idea xxx

My sisters shares her birthday with you and she always has a nightmare and I always find that if I don't prepare well in advance you can't even find a decent birthday card let alone sort out something non-Christmas related so I feel for you hon. I agree with Devon Dumpling though; be like the queen and have 2 birthdays!

I hope you do have a good time on your actual birthday though. xx

As the others say, i hope you do have a good one. I agree that having a 'half' birthday each year is a great idea.

I hadn't thought about how difficult it must be to get a decent birthday card this time of year but I suppose they do fill the shelves with Christmas ones!

Geez, I thought I had it bad-my birthday is December 3rd, and I rant and rave suomething fierce about being born so close to xmas. I really feel for you. I've NEVER celebrated my birthday, can't ever get the people that I want to spend time with to come out due to parties/weather/ not having any money due to buying pressies etc..

Do have fun on the day though. We'll all remember to send you love and hugs. xx

Oh I hope you have a good one. Mine is in August and when I was at school all my friends were away on holiday.

i hate december bdays also! mines december 31st! argh! people are sometimes like oh thats so kool everyones drunk for new year!

BUT it also means every club is about 3 times more expensive to get in than on a normal night. drinks are more expensive too. getting a taxi home is a logistical nightmare and they charge double fare! oh and public transport ceases to exist until the 2nd of january usually up here so if my friends from outside the city come they can't get home for days lol!!

x

Don't want to spoil anyone's fun here, but I wonder if it is wise to say when your birthday is on a public forum? Maybe a bit too much information to put into the public domain?

My boyfriend's birthday is 27/12. It's rubbish. His son goes to his Mums every other christmas. Unfortunately that means his birthday too, which is double rubbish!!

Mine is a couple of days after yours and I always have EXACTLY the same situation - so much so that I've given up trying to get people together for my birthday at all...and what happens this year? People are asking me if I'm doing anything for my birthday and suggesting organising drinks! But I'm turning them down as I've already accepted a gig!!!

*hugs* I know just how you feel.

I've tried having a summer 'birthday' but it just doesn't work...friends don't fall for it!

Glad I am not alone in the December-ness issues :)

Feeling less mardy today than I was Friday. I'm going to make sure I have fun.

Happy birthday to fellow Saggies/Capricornies :) xx
