Scan Bran

I bought some Scan Bran today!

Just wondering though, do you think it would be better to eat 2 a day and syn them or eat all 5? I think it would be a mission for me to eat all 5 in one day, hence wondering if I should just syn 2 a day or something.

Also, do you think 2 a day would make me friends with the loo more!? Sorry but just had to ask! xx

Sorry I don't know that answer as haven't tried it yet, hopefully someone more knowledgeable in that area will be along in a moment.....but just had to say I love your icon (good friend caffeine)

.....it made me giggle lol :) xx

I dont think Id have all 5 you may end up being VERY good friends with the loo

I know Id find eating 5 of them really hard going too

I made the scan bran chocolate cake with all 5 SB and ate the whole lot in one go! I had a really good date with the toilet but it was the desired type if you know what I mean and I had a really good weight loss that week!!!!X

Lana - you can buy Scan Bran at meetings, at some health food shops (eg H&B), and I have seen it at Waitrose.

Sarah-Jayne - although I should have called myself "Scan Bran Bunny", there is NO WAY I could eat 5 at one time! I usually have 2 with my salad for lunch, and really quite enjoy them now, but like them best in cakes - loads of recipes on here!

They definitely DO help to 'keep you regular', just remember to drink plenty of water!

I usually just syn mine, unless I've added bran to my porridge in the morning (Donnie's great idea - I count 2 rounded tablespoons of bran as the equivalent of 2 Scan Bran, loads quicker AND cheaper than SB), AND I've also had a slice or 2 of SB cake, which often happens! Then I call it a HEX.

HTH, Roz.

Thanks for your help all! Will be looking up the cake recipe for sure!!
For today though, think I will have 2 with some cottage cheese on top.
xx

I have 5 a day with egg mayo on top...Love it.
I do like them if I take soup to work for lunch too, I dip them in the soup so it softens them slightly....
I do enjoy them, they are good for me as I have problematic meetings with the loo (if you get my drift)..
I'd rather eat 5 of these a day than rely on pills!!!

I haven't tried the cake as I like them as they are, I may one day though

Scan Bran are def on my list to buy from WI this week. The cake recipes are intriguing!

The Scan Bran christmas cake is really nice. The recipe is in the recipe section. I eat it with low fat custard, and it tastes just like a "real" pudding.

Oo can you buy bran? Did you get it from h&b?

I would just syn then tbh. Don't like them personally but each to there own :)

Hi Joanne, yes I bought a 750g bag of Neal's Yard Natural Wheat Bran for just 95p at H&B - that's lots and lots of tablespoonfuls!

It's SO much easier to just stir them into porridge or cereal, than having to soak SB, drain it, mash it up - then wash up the bowl and fork! If you don't at least put them into soak straight away, it sets like concrete!

I've no idea whether this would be officially 'approved', but with 100g of SB costing at least £1, the saving is obvious.

We've been experimenting with making cakes with the loose bran as well, but haven't got this right yet - watch this space! But it was just getting ridiculous spending £5 a week (or more) on SB, although we'll continue to eat it most days topped with cottage cheese and Marmite!

Oo brilliant. Will deff be checking H&B tomorrow. Thanks!
