Halogen Oven chips

Hi,
Have been bought a halogen oven for xmas (and given early to try out:rolleyes:!) and have just made the most tasty free chips.. didn't even use fry light..lol have ate them so quickly and forgot to take a photo..

Thought I'd share in case anyone has one lurking in their cupboards with other kitchen gadgets.. it's well worth using x

Yum, yum chips :p
I've been hankering after an actifry up until now, this sounds great too, but I haven't much room in my kitchen, does it take up much counter space?

Hi,

I have both an actifry (which was a gift) and halogen oven.....(we are a bit gadget mad lol) I love the chips in my actifry, to me they are better than a chip shop :), so haven't tried in the halogen...but might now, just to see how they turn out :)

xx

Bout the same as a largish deep fat fryer.. shame they haven't brought them out in colours (chrome, black, red etc) but no doubt they will- hope that helps.

I keep trying to cook everything in it at the minute..(what a big kid I am lol) x

we are gadget mad too.. wouldn't be without my 'magic bullet' lol (mmm an actifry!!)

I've wanted a halogen oven for AGES, but my hubby doesn't take hints very well...lol I have my actifry though and love that for chips!

We were thinking of getting one of those! But read a few reviews on the net and they weren't very good, they were prone to break All the time. X

I seriously had to cut down on gadgets/kitchen appliances when we moved here ! I gave so many items away that I had used once or twice.

I did think about the halogen oven but dismissed because of space. One of the girls at SW group brought in her actifry for the christmas party and it was good - but I think very pricey and would I use it enough to justify the price. Probably not so I have decided against that too.

Yeah I liked the idea of an actifry too, but the reviews on amazon were appalling. They seem to break down all the time. Quite a lot of money to invest in something that's not gonna last.

I have a halogen oven and love it!!! (well, I'm actually on my 5th one in 2 years as, sadly, they do tend to break after about 8 months :-(

Thank god I bought an extended warranty when I first bought mine as it only lasted 6 months before the halogen bulb went. A subsequent one then bit the dust when the halogen bulb literally exploded sending bits of glass around the kitchen (thank god none of us where near it at the time!!) I now know the signs when the bulb is nearing it's shelf life and then send it back for a replacement. It is fantastic, I use it every day but it is not built to stand the test of time and when my warranty runs out I will not be buying another one until this is sorted!!!

(btw, I'm a gadget fanatic too!! :) I have an actifry too. Love it but no doubt it will probably die soon too :-(

If you're thinking about having an actifry but not sure - they are a godsend for anyone who loves chips. The chips come out absolutely beautiful. I have a halogen oven as well - and not tried chips in that but am going to soon. Slight change of subject - i LOVE crisps. I got a microwave crisp maker which is ok but has anyone tried making them in the actifry or halogen or anything else?

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but JaxieD if you're out there... what are the signs that you see when you know it's nearing it's time?

She was last online two weeks ago, so might be worth sending her a pm to ask?

Thanks MLM, I'll give her a while and then do that if she hasn't replied - don't want it to look like I'm nagging her. Where did you find that out? Is it on the profile page? - Off to take a look now and see!

EDIT - Just found it on the profile page!

Well it says she's doing WW now so unless she gets notifications for old threads she might not be aware of this being updated. Clearly she's still around though, if not recently active, just thought it might be a way to get a response :)

Yes, good point. I've PM-d her. I don't think one post and one PM makes me a stalker!
