Long story

Hi all, not sure if anyone remembers me but up until about 5 weeks ago I was on CD and loving the weightloss. I lost 2 stone in 8 weeks.

However: 5 weeks ago I woke and went to get out of bed and the world span round and round. I managed to shake it off and put it down to low blood sugar and had a shake and a couple of pints of water. I then started to get ready for work and bent my head to wash my hair and wham the world span round again and I passed out.

To cut a long story short I ended up in hospital and had high blood pressure sitting and low standing. They kept me in and once they knew I had been on CD told me off and blamed it on that.

5 weeks later I am still the same and undergoing tests. I have terrible vertigo and am unable to work. So far I have had a EEG and and heart scan and am waiting the results. I think they are looking in the wrong place as my head is where the problem is.

My question is: has anyone else heard of anything like this happening whilst on CD?

Hi sweetie - hope you are feeling better now.
I know few ppl who had simmilar symptons which I think is the way of your body telling you that this diet doesn't agree with you.
There shouldn't be any irreversible damage and as long as you take care of yourself you should be back to feeling OK.
Your weightloss was really quick - 2 s in 8 weeks is even too quick for CD. I am sorry to hear that you are going through such a difficult time - take care of yourself now. Wish you well xxxx

Just wanted to say hi and I hope you are feeling better!
I've been on and off the diet for awhile now and I too have had the bad dizzy spells, my CDC sad it was sugar levels.
Hope you get it sorted whatever is causing it! x x

the dizziness on cd is often caused by a drop in blood sugar or blood pressure dropping upon standing too quickly, both pass and dont normally continue when out of ketosis so i think its a good idea doctors are running tests ( would imagine they no longer believe its just the diet if they are running more tests )
hope everything turns out ok and the doctors can help eliviate the problems

Hi Thinny2B,

I have not heard of this before, but I supposed it is possible. I think often there is a previously undetected medical condition that surfaces as you lose weight. But, hopefully, they will find the underlying cause and once that is sorted if you do chose to go back on CD you might consider an 810 or other plan that includes some food.

Thank you for your replies. I did guess the doctors would blame it on CD cos as soon as you say you have been on a VLCD they instantly think its that. I did get a lot of dizziness on the diet especially when getting up and I also felt very tired. Be nice to know if it is the diet or not.

Hi Thinny..

Hope you feel better, it must have been a scare to you and your family. Straight ss on CD didn't work for me, I did it for 3 weeks in the start of the plan in May. Got terrible feelings in my tummy too, not sure why, but when added food it went. We are all different and some things that agree with some ppl, don't agree with others. All I know about CD is that when you are on it, you aren't hungry if you are in ketosis anyway. I had to remind myself to have my shake and at lunch, could only really manage half a bar at times and had the rest later. Good luck with everything. xx
