Afternoon...
I am really peed off at the minute-
I 'did' have what you could call a
BIG BONFIRE (just an expression I use)
and it has seriously been 'pi**ed on 3 times :(:mad::cry::cry:

-First pee-
I have worked for the same company for 6 years now and we always have a christmas party ....NOT this year :cry:
I am so upset, I have been ranting on about it for ages , Its just not blooming fair- thats like having christmas with no santa NOOOOOOO !!!!!!
The reason ? no money, staff moaning blah ,blah . I dont think people realise that for someone like me - who doesnt get to go out very much and have a great time (because of son) that was my one big thing i was looking forward to, even more so that I have lost weight

-Second pee-
We always have a xmas dinner/ buffet at work and it is always on a Thursday....guess what day I DONT work??- it has always been the same :cry: they say we can come in !! but whats the point ?. Only ever had that on One day in the 6 years that Ive been there
and they wont change the day

- Third pee-
We always have a least 2 or 3 days of being allowed to dress up .... well that also just happens to be my greatest love !!
And guess what... we are allowed to do it on one day only .- and it happens to be on the same day that I willl be doing the late shift !!- so whats the blooming point in that ??
The whole thing about dressing up is , being someone your not, having a laugh and giving others a laugh... so what is the point in dressing up when half your customers wont be able to see you ?:cry:

This has felt like I want to go buy a pair of wooly boots for my turkey on christmas day !!....
whats the point in that
aswell?
what a pile of poop this year is turning out to be
I am going to go into my Managers office on Monday and plead with him - cos I have got a great outfit to wear and it is just gonna go to waste :cry:
Sorry just had to moan xx

We usually get offered a christmas lunch at school but to be honest i've only had one !! by the time we finish there's usually not much left even tho its all pre ordered-last year was such a farce that we have booked to go to a chinese buffet when we're finished at school

Awe bless you, could some of the staff maybe just go out one evening or lunchtime for a pub meal or something on a buyone get one free offer to cut the cost. I know its not a big fancy Christmas doo, but at least you have a bit of fun and a night out. I dare say a lot of companies will be cutting back on things like this at the moment, but better this than cut backs in jobs. You and your son will still have a fun Christmas.

((((( Alice )))))

Sorry to hear about all this. I remember from when I was active on the forum what a superstar you are with your work and caring for your son so you could do with a b***dy good time!

BTW, did you get away on holiday? xxxx

We've never had a christmas do. I work for a school. No governement or council department would pay for one. Imagine the headlines!! 'Your Council Tax for Staff Jolly'.

Many many companies are not having staff do's this year. It's a very tight year really. I know it's not really much of a consolation the way you are feeling hun but at least you still have a job. So many people I know may be out of a job by Christmas if not out of one already and a party is the last thing on their mind.

As for the dressing up, this is just daft - why shouldn't you dress up? I love it when the staff are dressed up in my local supermarket, always makes me smile! Well worth hassling the manager for that one.
I do understand not having a party though, times are hard.

ive moved companies and dont get a xmas do anymore - i think its the current economic climate - they would rather keep employees employed than have a party!

sorry to hear its upset you so much, but look on the bright side - look at how well you have done on your SW journey xxx i only hope i can lose what you have lost!!! well done x

I am one of them!
I'd far rather have my job back than a party
My hubby was laid off in Feb and me last week. He, at least is working but only a few hours a week.
So it's going to be a bit of a dismal Christmas for us. Thank goodness our kids are grown up and understand that Santa won't be around this year but at least we will be getting together!

Me too, I was made redundant in March and hubby rage quit his job 2 weeks ago (Im killing after Christmas when I can enjoy it). The best present I could get this year would be a job offer or my old job back. My dad gave me something yesterday and made me cry, since I stopped work he's been putting some money away every week so that we can get my little boy presents for Christmas in case my husband lost his job too. I've been so stressed and upset about not being able to get him anything and bless my dad, he has just lifted it straight off my shoulders.
I've got the best dad in the world.
