...when a size 8 says she is on a diet as she wants to be a size 6!

Grr, it makes me so angry! I hate it when people say 'i'm so fat' and they're smaller than me. If you think you're fat, what must you think of me??? Idiots. I was a size 6 once... I think it was before I started primary school!

Lol, I don't remember being anything lower than a 16 - I think I went straight into it from kiddy's clothes (I wasn't even a fat teenager - it was just BOOM overnight lol)

Bloody skinny's ;)

and she's had a baby about 6 months ago

Okay, here's a thought - how about giving her a break?!!
My friend is a size 8 BUT she has more cellulite and flabbier thighs than me and by toning up and exercising and cutting sugary and fatty foods out she has slimmed down and become a size 6.
We all have our insecurities and we all want to be smaller, no matter what size we are.
Sorry but I think you are probably being a bit harsh on her!!

Have to agree with jaylou. Everyone needs to be happy in their skin, dress size 8 doesnt automatically make you happy about your body.

depends how tall you are and your frame. A slightly built short person at size 6 or 8 is a bit diff than if you're 6 foot and the same size. My sis is same height as me, but size 8 and always has been, but smallest I have ever been is a 12 (now a few sizes bigger ) so I reckon I am big-boned! :D

I shouldnt really have said anything as everyones different but this person is so thin anyway loseing anymore would make her look so much more fragile.

I do agree that we will never be happy with our bodys and weight though. xx

Nice one Hun- well said!
I would hate to think of people assessing my weight/size and deciding on what they think is best for me.

I have a friend whos a size 6 and desperately wants to be a size 8. She has Body Dysmorphic (sp) Disorder and she hates herself for being so thin and "ugly" but when she puts on weight the mirror changes and she sees a huge person. She lives on junk food because shes terrified of loosing weight and then exercises like crazy and lives on very little as soon as she gains more than a pound. She is one of the most beautiful people i know both in character and in looks.
So yes it does make me sick when perfectly healthy size 8 people with no issues want to loose weight to live up to a stupid size zero ideal. They should walk a mile in my friends shoes and know what it feels like to be afraid of what you do or dont eat and never being able to look in the mirror and like even one single thing about themselves.

I reckon I suffer the that big-bone syndrome too :D

I agree with Jaylou, how we feel about our bodies is extremely personal and judging someone because they're a size 8 is terribly unfair. I'm currently a size 12-14 and my ideal happy size is an 8-10 but where I come from a size 14 is considered "trim" and I'm always getting hounded by friends and family when I try to lose weight. It is not anyone's place to decide for me what weight I should be happy at. And just because a person is a size 8 does not make her weight issues any less valid than a person who's a size 18. The one thing we women all have in common is insecurities with our bodies, regardless of size. Let's not trivialise the importance of self esteem and instead offer support to one another, size 6 and 20 alike.

everyone has insecurities - i know skinny people who hate being skinny and want my curves - im like - you must be MAD!!! but they tell me its all good!

I then remind them i am morbidly obese and they soon shut it!

I hope to get to a healthy size 12 - but would settle at a toned 14....im a 22/20 now so i hope to get there next year - x
