Places to take landscape pictures

MY OH is a keen amateur photographer and when it is his birthday in March I am planning on a long weekend away.

Want it to be a surprise but also want wherever we go to have lots of fabulous photo opportunities, he loves beaches, rock pools, sunsets and natural landscapes so if anybody has any ideas I would be very grateful.

Only just seen this thread.

Do you want it to be in the UK? If so, I would wholeheartedly recommended Northumberland. It may be a bit too far away from you in Kent but it would be well worth it.

It is famous for it's beaches and scenery and is a landscape photographers paradise (I used to have a good SLR too) and you would be spolit for choice. There are numerous castles (Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh are the two most picturesque imfo) and in the Cheviots and Kielder Forest you have wonderful natural scenery. You're not too far from Hadrian's Wall either and other picture postcard villages. I guess you could find these in numerous other places but for me thr Northumberland villages have a a certain ruggedness about them that makes them that extra special.

Holy Island is one of my favourite places in the world. It is an island that gets cut off by the sea for 12+ hours so it's incredibly spiritual (even though I don;t believe in any of that gubbins ) with beautiful scenery. I proposed on there and there are some beautiful places to stay.

Photography Monthly did a great article on landscape photography and where to go to get great shots a few months ago. I'll see if I can dig out my copy and, if I can, I'll let you know where they suggest

Off the top of my head, I'd suggest the Peak District (particularly around the Buxton area), the Lake District (but plan for rain), and if he likes bleak then Dartmoor.

The highlands of Scotland are just amazing for photographs, not least because more often than not the roads are so empty you can happily stop wherever you like, snap off a few shots, then get driving again.

cornwall or devon has some lovely places....better than abroad!

Lady Bower in the peak district is one of the most beautiful places I have been to in England, the scenery is breathtaking and there are lots of opportunities for some beautiful shots.

Rhossili Bay in Wales! Possibly, in my opinion, the most beautiful place on Earth.
