Hi ladies,

I have been doing sw for a while now and find it good however, really missing bread and chocolate. I am constantly thinking back to ww (lost 2 stone this way) I feel you can have a wider variety of foods (although in small quantities) Just don't know anymore :sigh: Stick with sw or move bak to ww !!

Please use your own experiences to help me decide .

Cheers

i've done both,currently on SW.
I think they are both good diets and both work.
But i aslo think that they will suit different people differntly at different times of their lives.
SW suits poeple with larger appetites cos of all the free food, and educates them to at least eat big quantities of the right foods. It also suits those that enjoy cooking, and suits me in the winter due to lots of what i call 'comfort food' ( mash, stews curries, chillies etc) can be made SW friendly.
In my personal opinion ww better suits people who want to learn to restrict their portion sizes or use convenience foods alot.
Like i say both have their beneifts. One thing that someone said recently that has really struck a chord wih me is that Sw does encourage you to eat more fruit and veg because they are free on the plan, whereas on ww fruit is pointed-now if you have the choice of using your points for a banana or a couple of jaffa cakes which are you going to go for ? jaffa cakes everytime, why 'waste' points on fruit when you can have a treat.

Not sure if this will help you decide or just some food for thought !!

Do whichever works for you! Although on SW you CAN still have bread (hex) and chocolate (syns). Personally, I can't get on with WW, but you need to do what works for you :)

I have done both and I LOVE SW! On WW I was constantly hungry, but couldn't even pop a few grapes or munch an apple without it taking up points, so I love that I can eat these and more so freely on SW. I have also lost much more weight much more quickly on SW. Less weighing and measuring too, and I can still have my choccy fix without denying myself 'proper' foods elsewhere due to lack of points :)

sw allllll the way! i did ww for a very short time.... 1 week to be precise and i was grumpy as one of the 7 dwarfs! i struggled to eat my points and had to eat when i wasnt even hungry to get them all in, didnt feel healthy at all and i got a spot on my chin! not good! and i only lost 2.5lbs and on sw i lost 4lbs the first week.
you can still have chocolate on sw you just have to have a look for a low syn one or a recipe for a chocolate cake or something. good luck with whatever you try hunny x

Been doing SW since January and have had chocolate every day since then! Ok, it's not a huge bar every day, but I certainly don't go without.

I've been following EE so since I only get one healthy B, I tend to have bread every second day (the other days I have cereal). I really believe that you can have absolutely anything on SW, but just maybe not in the quantities you had before.

Not tried WW, but prefer that there's always something tasty to eat that's free (and a wide choice of free foods and meals too).

Ive done both and much prefer WW, I found SW much harder and I ended up eating the same things over and over. I still eat very healthily on WW but I find it much easier if Im eating out or if I 'get the munchies' lol I use my points carefully and never run out and Im NEVER hungry on WW. I just didnt feel I got anywhere with SW but Ive already lost half a stone in 2 weeks now Im back on WW

Both are great ways to lose weight its just purely what one works best for you and your lifestyle.

Im in the SW corner on this, mainly because your not hungry on it. You can still have your bread and chocolate and anything else you want - thats what your syns are for and you can use them on anything you choose.

I found on WW some days I owuld have used up all my points and realised I had eaten only 2 portions of fruit and veg and couldn't do anything about it. I often went to bed hungry. The core programme was too restricting only allowing minimal points each week. I find a two finger Kit Kat 5.5 syns satisfies my chocolate ruch and as for bread I will have an extra slice but syn it . As others have said each to their own. SW seems to fit in with family meals better for me though. good luck xx

SW all the way for me too.

It took a while to get used to not eating bread but I realised that since eating it less I don't feel bloated as much as I used to.

We are eating sooooo much on SW and rarely feel hungry.

So pleased for you hun- I know you struggled with SW so just glad you have had a massive success in your first 2 weeks back at WW- you must feel you are finally back on it (and you can truly say you gave it your best shot)!

Tried to rep you, but I have to spead it around first

I've done WW several times, and this isn't my first time doing SW either.
I agree that they suit different people at different times.
I lost a lot of weight with WW and I've lost a lot of weight with SW. I think the EE plan is inspired and I think there's a fighting chance that I'll be able to maintian on it this time (fingers crossed and not tempting fate and all that!!!!)
I have bread most days and find that it doesn't bloat me or make any difference to my weight loss.
Really it's up to you, try WW again if you like, but swap back if it isn't as effective or as enjoyable as you think it's going to be.
Good luck deciding.

I have tried WW, and tome, thats not a plan you can have for life. Its certainly a diet that works, but Id hate to go to bed hungry for the rest of my days!

With EE, I CAN see me eating like this for life, for me and my family!

Firstly I'd like to say that there is no 'correct' or 'right' diet/eating plan/way to lose weight.

What all good diets/eating plans have in common is allowing you to lose weight while still having a healthy (in terms of food groups and neutrients) diet and encourage a healthy/active lifestyle.

Of course I am in SW's corner on this, but that doesn't mean other plans don't work, just personal preference.

There's no such thing as 'can't have'. It's about making healthy choices. Want some bread - have some, want some chocolate - have some. Quanitity is another factor, you could definitely have bread and chocolate and stay within your syns, if you want a bit more and go out your syn allowance, is it the end of the world? No not really!

SW is all about retraining your brain about what adds up to a healthy lifestyle that can help you lose weight and then be adjusted to maintain your goal weight. (The only weak point of SW is teaching portion control, but that's a whole other thread!)

I've never done WW but heard you basically point everything, if this is the case then this is just calorie counting using a different scale. You maintain a healthy weight by consuming and expanding by the same amount of (average) calories a day, you could achieve this by eating nothing but sweets and pasties doesn't make it a healthy diet.

Of course fruit and vegetables have calories, but making you count thier 'points' on the same scale as chocolate in an eating plan is bizzare to me! SW, WW, Atkins and so on all do the same thing, they help you consume less calories than you are burning, they just all do it in different ways, when it's all said and done you have two questions to ask yourself:
1. Am I looking for a way to lose weight whilst keeping my current lifestyle or returning to it when I've lost the weight? OR
2. Have I identified a reason why I am over weight and want to change my eating habbits and lifestyle to lose weight that I can then follow forever?

Good luck hun, whatever you decide 90% of success is mind set.

I have tried ww and personally prefer sw as I have quite a big appetite and with ww I seemed to be always hungry. I think sw makes you plan your meals more and do more cooking and eat less processed foods/ready meals and encourages you to eat lots of fruit and veg. On the other hand, sw is not as good as ww when it comes to eating out so for someone who eats out a lot and hasn't got time to cook and plan meals ww may be a better option.

I still have chocolate now and then but prefer to save my syns for things like alcohol, but there is no reason you couldn't have chocolate everyday if that's where you want to use your syns. The same with bread, lots of people on sw eat bread everyday.

although this is only my third week on sw i already think its far better for me than ww was you can have far more on sw and you can still have chocolate and bread im managing my craving for chocolate at the moment with 2 finger kitkats 5.5 syns and crisps with salt and vinegar snackajacks 4.5 syns

It's not a case of which works best, It's a case of which works best for an individual.

In short, they ALL work best if they are followed and they can all be followed for life as they all have their own mainenance programmes.

I've done WW and SW (and RC and Atkins and GI!) and, for me, SW is the best by far as it's the only one I've got to target on.

However, I still maintain that there is no BEST, SW and WW are both as good as each other.
