Sugar free sweets/chewing gum

Wondered if anyone could tell me of any off the shelf sweets or chewing gum that are readily available please? I bought some strawberry & cream sugar free sweets from the chemist the other day only to find they were well high in carbs... when I looked closer they use real fruit juice DOH!

I have always chewed Green Extra chewing gun since stopping smoking 6 years ago but just noticed that has polyols in it!

(No wonder I STS this week!)

Have bought sugar free polos today.... are they OK?

Has anyone any other tips?
Cheers

Morrissons do small boxes of strawberry or caramel which are nice - Sula sweets. I buy Wrigley's Extra in large pouch type bags and have been munching on them but weight loss has slowed so I may have had too many. Sugar free stuff is available from Boots or Thorntons in their diabetic ranges

Thanks.

It's the Sula sweets that shocked me board.... am thinking that's what screwed my week up this week.... am sure they are 7.summat carbs per sweet. They may be sugar free but use natural fruit juices. That's why they are so gorgeous!

You definitely have to watch the sweets and gum, I'd say.

I mini-binged on low carb sweets and chocolate myself a few weeks ago, to my astonishment. A delivery had just arrived and when I checked the contents I decided to sample a few goodies. I was surprised afterwards at the cravings this triggered almost immediately!

Since then I have cut back drastically on sugar free sweets.

You might try Atkins Advantage bars. They are meal replacements and usually very chocolate-y and filling. They can be cut up into slices and even frozen to provide a nutritious low carb fix for your sweet tooth.

Many believe that Atkins should be about avoiding sweets and chocolate completely since eating even low carb versions can prompt cravings for the real thing. I admit that going cold turkey does usually remove the desire for goodies but over (hopefully) a lifetime of healthy loss and maintenance I hope to be able to eat low carb versions of my fave treats.

Monitor your own reaction to replacement products. If they make you crave, or stall, or gain, it might be best to cut back or even avoid them altogether.

All the best!

Yes, many people are stalled by those sugar free devil's delights.

Devil's Delights! Ha Ha.

Yes indeed. The downfall of so many on this plan!

Yes love, I believe it's all about changing our way of eating.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone :) I don't eat sweets as a rule... in fact hardly ever.... it's more the chewing gum that I enjoy :) Glad that I can carry on though!
