Hi All

Got weighed this morning and I have put the weight that ive lost back on again i only lost 5 lbs doing it on my own and following the unit diet and im back to square one and with easter aswell has not helped.
I need to do something now as my health is suffering and getting out of breath and my joints ache and got a bit of blood pressure on tablets for that too
So I will have to decide what to do and give it a good go
So feeling really down this morning.
Take Care All:break_diet:

Hi, It's tough when this happens and it happened to me. Not the health stuff, but I have stuggled to lose weight after my hols in Jan, but am nearly done. It can be a feeling of a step forward and back and at one stage thought what's the point. I stopped posting because I thought people were going to wonder how many times I was going to lose the same 2lbs only to gain them back again! But I looked at the alternatives and there weren't any that didn't take me back to where I was before - sat at nearly 200lbs. I just kept going and thinking that even though I wasn't going anywhere that wasn't as bad as it seemed. Although I wasn't going anywhere good, I hadn't gone anywhere bad and given that I can put on half a stone in a week end, where I started wasn't as bad as it sounded. BTW This is a clinical account and I've not included the tears, binging and bad language that accompanied the actual experience!

What diets are you interested in?
Let us know what you are doing - we are all here cos we are restarting or struggling so know what it's like.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Whats the unit diet? Excuse my ignorance!!
Have you looked on Weight loss resources web site? I think it's a great site for people who want to know how many calories they can have in a day etc -plus you get a free 3 day trial which i have done and think is very good.

Hi The unit diet is nearly the same as ww but your fruit is free and your potatoes are free and mullerlight yoghurts are free and all the other foods have got units besides them you are allowed 10 units a day to spend on the food you want Dont want to count calories as you hav everything to count even veg .

Ok Bethany love............I think this is a wake up call for you.

If the unit diet worked for you...............it would have. I really don't think its to do with the support. I think you are strong willed enough without people doing the same diet as you and you have the suuport of all of us. I don't think the support of the people doing the same diet would have made a difference.

What I'd like you to do is try out weightwatchers. I know you don't want to do a VCLD - and thats ok, these diets aren't for everyone and I think that perhaps the Unit diet isn't for you either.

Please try not be so down hun!! Stop doing nothing and trying to battle on with this diet that is not working for you and change tactics!!!

Do something NOW and you are improving your life and you'll start feeling better!!

:) xx

I know what you are saying about not wanting to count calories.....but the fact of the matter is that veg HAS calories and shouldn't be taken as free. Maybe it was that you are eating too many of these "free" foods and clocking up the calories?

Yeah....veg is good for you but the bare bones of losing weight is to consume less calories than you need to lose weight.

Veg, although good for you...has calories. There is no escaping it (unless you eat celery all the time which uses more calories to eat it than it actually contains)

SW has free food too....pasta and stuff, seems madness to me but it works for lots of people. The Unit diet - although a lovely idea, does not work for you. Forget about it and try something else. No use in flogging a dead horse.

OMG - Potatoes and fruit are free!! I'd be the size of a house on that diet. I got my money back from SW after doing their diet. I didn't cheat and put on 1/2 a stone in 2 weeks.

Counting calories is a faff, but it has to be done. Either you do it ourself or let someone else do it and call it points, Cambridge or Atkins.

You obvously have the motivation as you stuck to it - but I think it would be better if you follow something that works better for you. Otherwise it's just reinforcing the message that you can't succeed and that's not true. It's about finding what works for you - so just keep going!

Hi Bethany,

You've had some excellent support here :D I think maybe WW might suit you. You can still have anything you want but in moderation and as long as it's within your points. It suits an awful lot of people and once I get to goal on CD I will again be living along the lines of counting points again

Take care hunny - we all get a boot up the bum from not sticking to our diets - it's a hell of a shock when you get on those scales and see they have just jumped  .

I blame the 'fat fairy' myself. I'm sure she waves her 'fat wand' over me whilst I am sleeping and makes me regain pounds for no reason ;) :D There has that made you smile now? xxx

Oh yes, you must eat all your points. This was my downfall with WW but I just couldn't manage to eat them all. I used to help with the meetings at WW and I would notice that those who ate all their points would lose far more than those who didn't! We also used to suggest that if say you were eating all your points and didn't lose, to maybe cut them by two for a week and then back to normal. If your losses still weren't good then try and increase them by two and this would really kick start your metabolism.

Hope this might help a little, just try and get a supportive leader (I once had one who spent a whole meeting talking about HER problems with delivery men and nothing to do with WW). She was also never interested unless you had a woweee weight loss

Take care and good luck :hug99:
