Hi everyone

Sorus

Going for it.
I've been lurking here for a few days and thought it was about time I said hi.

I've just started Slimming World after many months of non success with another diet. A diet that worked magnificently for me in the past but for various reasons doesn't seem to work now. Think my body just needs a jolt and maybe a bit of confusion.

I gave up smoking nearly 2 years ago and injured my back earlier this year. The combination of the two has meant the weight has piled on. In that time I also met a wonderful man who is now my partner. I realised I was telling him how unhealthy it was to be that overweight and all the while I was gradually becoming that overweight myself! So... things had to be done.

Have read lots of food diaries - they are very inspiring - and will be hoping to start a food diary myself.

I am 49, live in Cornwall with teenage kids. One of them has cystic fibrosis which means he needs TONS of high calorie, high carbohydrate and fatty foods. It is a nightmare! I spend most of my life making crunchy roast potatoes...

Welcome Sorus to MiniMins!

Congratulations on giving up smoking, two years is brilliant:happy096: that is one of the best things you can do for your own health and your family!

I am eleven years non smoking in January:innocent0002: I found it very difficult but so very happy I never gave up trying...

Crunchy roast potatoes:drool: they are very difficult to ignore:)

Best of luck with SW...will your partner be joining you on your diet journey?

Love Mini xxx

Hi Mini

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Yes it took me several hundred attempts to give up smoking before I finally managed it!

Yes, my partner has also started on the Slimming World journey. We don't live together so if he cheats I won't know! But I know he's as determined as I am at the moment. I shall be making lots of 'free' soups I suspect, and sending him away with some.

Good luck on your own weight loss journey. I've never tried Lipotrim. Another one for me to try if SW fails! But that's not very positive thinking. Of course it's going to!

Hi

Hi my name is Sam. I am 37 yrs old and have been overweight for about 10 yrs overall, but I have yo-yo'd in that time
I have had Polycystic Ovary Syndrome since my late twenties, so that does affect weight too
I have decided to try to be brave and got to my first SW meeting this Monday coming.Eeeek! My hubby is coming for moral support more than anything
For health and fertility reasons I have to lose 6 stone.
I am pretty depressed by how far and how bad my weight has gotten. I don't even look like me anymore
I am based in Leicester, and would love to get involved in the forum here, as I feel pretty isolated overall.

Hello Irene and thanks for the welcome!

Hi Sorus, welcome, and I wish you the best of luck on your SW plan :)

Another Newbie!

Hello everyone!

I'm Esme, I'm 27 and I've been lurking around on here for a while now, and as I'm back on the SW challenge I need all the help I can get!
A brief history: I joined initially back in July, lost 9.5lbs, then left for a few months due to illness, a holiday, my birthday - all the usual excuses! :angeldevil:
Anyway I joined back two weeks ago (found out I had lost another pound - yay!), lost 4 and half pounds in my first week back, however at last nights group I sadly put on one and a half pounds - arrrrgh! Damn my best friend's birthday.. :grumble:
Onwards and upwards, today I'm armed with a massive bag of fruit and veg, going to make myself walk that extra bit everyday, and that extra four-ish stone WILL be gone!

I may even give up smoking too... but not today eh?

Esme x

Hello
Welcome, seems like we are all in the same boat here. I lost 8 stne with sliming world back on '98. Trouble is it's all back on now due to my (failed) attempts at giving up smoking, so big congrats to you for winning one of the battles lol
Best of luck
love
Sandra

Hi everyone. I have started the slimming world diet a few days a go and have joined the forum to check that I am doing it right. I attempted iot before for an 8wk stretch and gained 6lbs then maintained my gain. I really have tried every diet under the sun and want this to work for me as Atkins and other such diets play havoc with my diabetes. My cousin has lost an amazing 7stone and her friend 5stone so I know it works. Was just wondering whether there was anyone who has experienced no weight loss at all on the plan?
