What a disappointment

I am 'sort of' low carbing and have been for a while. Not really using it to lose weight, but maintain until i'm ready to jump back onto a VCLD. Doing so has proven that I can maintain in a 'low carb' world until now..........

Ok, up to now I've not really weighed out my carb intake, but have followed the principles of eating mostly proteins with a little bit of green leafy veg and so far so good. I have, however, been supplementing that with a few sneaky glasses of wine over the weekend and have suffered no bad effects (ie no weight gain).

Last weekend my dear OH went away, so methinks to myself I'll use that time (from Friday to Monday) and really stick to Atkins and I did, pretty much to the letter (with absolutely no alcohol, no 'off limits' food). I expected to lose a few pounds and be able to act rather saintly when my OH returned (the fact he went away the weekend of our wedding anniversary is another story...)

So, I jumps on the scale Tuesday morning expecting to be able to go 'woop woop' and ended up going 'i dont believe it in true Victor Meldrew stylee'. Not only did I not lose anything, I in fact gained around 3lbs.

I mean, how flipping unfair is that  Ok, so now I've stopped sobbing and I know (or rather hope) its a hormonal, or bunged up, sorta thing.......but hey, give a gal a break.

It has not deterred me and I hope somehow the 3lbs will disappear (yeh right, pigs, flying - comes to mind). I just hope this odd blip is not a start of an ongoing upwards movement of the scales....in fact I've decided me and my scales need to have a long chat.

Can you tell its been a long hard week!

That's strange Dom, can't say I've ever had that, having said that, in any given day my weight can vary by up to as much as 4lbs.

Thanks Jim

I actually think it's something to do with being a little 'bunged up', if you know what I mean. I actually think I probably ate too much meat and not enough leafy greens, so my fibre intake needs sorting out somewhat.

That coupled with the fact I've reached that 'special' age where I do suffer quite severe hormonal problems....just great being a gal :D

I'm staying positive and have absolute faith in low carbing - all the stories I read on here prove it works, both for weightloss and maintenance.

Heya! Yeah, us women have all the luck...

Low carbing does work, oh yes. Thanks to this approach I have kept off 135 lost pounds, and am slowly but surely heading towards goal with 23 pounds yet to lose.

Everyone is different, everyone's response to the diet and to carbs in general varies a little or a lot so we need to be patient whilst we find what works for us.

Every day I wake up feeling free. Once I awoke determined to starve (again). Some days and weeks I would succeed; others, I'd fail miserably and hate myself. We've all been there, and it isn't nice.

I love Atkins/low carbing. Finally I have come home!
