Off to the doctors... wish me luck!

Because I need it! For two reasons.

Firstly, this is my first time with my new doctor since moving as I had to wait 3 weeks for a registration appointment with the nurse! So she may talk to me about my weight and stuff, which I don't really feel all that comfortable with. But at least I can point out to her that I'm doing something about it, and have lost 2 and a half stone, and am keeping going. Is better than before!

And secondly, I hate the doctors. I have problems with being really tired and stuff, amongst other things. My thyroid was borderline, and I finally managed to get medicated about 9 months ago, but it's made no difference at all. A friend has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and so does my sister, and they've both said that a lot of what I talk about is the same as how they feel. I get achey or muscle pains, for no reason. The sleep problems. The always feeling tired, exhausted is actually a better word, tired doesn't really cover it. I can sleep 8 hours, wake up and feel like I haven't slept at all. My memory and concentration is shocking, I'll get half way through sentences all the time and have literally no idea what I was about to say or what I was talking about. People actually comment on how forgetful I am! Well, friends anyway. I often feel sick, for no reason, though it passes. The gym yesterday pretty much wiped me out! I used to be able to do that no problem, but by 7pm I was falling asleep!

So it's a definite option, but I don't know. My doctor in the past was so quick to just brush me off, didn't even want to treat my thyroid. So not holding out much hope to be honest, but hoping she proves me wrong!

Good luck hun. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Often a change of Dr can be the best thing, especially if you weren't getting the right treatment. Hugs x x x

Good luck let us know how you get on xx

Well it went a lot better than I expected. I explained to her how I felt, and I explained that my sister has CFS and have a lot of the same symptoms as her, and for once she took me seriously. She's ordered a blood test where they'll do a thyroid function test, but they're going to look at everything, glucose levels, white blood cells, everything, just so they can rule anything else out. She's asked me to keep a diary over the next 2 weeks of how I'm sleeping, my tiredness, moods, and anything else I feel relevant. They'll then look at my thyroid function tests, see whether I'm on the right dosage, but looking at me as an individual, rather than as a text book case. She used periods as an example. All women have them, but all women react to them differently, so why wouldn't we react differently to thyroid hormones. Then if that doesn't help, we'll consider other options, like CFS or whatever. But it may be my thyroid, which is what I've been saying for over 6 months.

glad she's doing something for you Caroline - hope you get to the bottom of it all (hug)

Glad to hear it Caro!!! BTW, how are your muscles today?? Mine were so bad last night I went to bed at around 9pm. Slept almost 12 hours, but def feel much better today. Doing legs tomorrow mornong, so maybe I shouldn't talk so fast.

Absolutely fine surprisingly! Just been exhausted, but not at all achey. Going to try and get up early and go in the morning.

Good luck Caroline, I've got alarm set for 6.10am to workout lower body. I'll be thinking of you. Should be workout buddies maybe, I usually do fine but sometimes need the little ooomph to get up and outa bed esp in winter. The time to get a rythm/routine rolling too, after it's smooth sailing and I always wonder why I stopped in the first place!!!!

Sounds like a good idea!
