Anyone have a short term gain when they started on 1000?

I started on 1000 on Monday. Had reached my goal of 9 1/2 stone on Sunday, but the scales went up by 1/4lb for my weigh in on Monday morning. After a couple of days the scales now say 9 stone 8 1/4lb. Is it normal to have a temporary weight gain when you start to go up the plans? I think totm is due in the next few days soon as well, so that's not going to help. It feels a bit weird actually not having the safety of SS anymore!:D

Hi Angie,

Firstly well done on reaching your target!! and yes this is absolutely normal, it'll be your carb stores refilling with some water attached, the low cal of 1000 should mean you'll drop a lb or two over the two weeks on 1000 and the gain/loss should cancel each other out and stabilise your weight.
Hope you are enjoying the 1000 plan!

Sparkles, so happy for you that you're at target, well done!!! I remember your posts from early on and now you're at goal, big congrats for all you have achieved hun. Yes, as Lelly says a small gain can be part of the steps, but this should even out within the first week so don't panic. You cannot gain fat while eating 1000 cals, just not possible! I think totm may be a big part of it...

Are you going to start a maintainers diary over here? This is the hardest bit in many ways, as you say, without the safety net of SS or 810, and no ketosis to keep you on the straight and narrow. There are many lessons to be learned (and I seem to take my time learning them!) but the people over on this forum are the MOST amazing, warm and supportive people ever. Without their support I don't think I'd have made it this far.

So... if you do start a thread, you'd be very welcome.

Chin up and enjoy the steps, and here's to a slim, happy, healthy future!

Hi:) Yes I'm going to start a diary over here. It feels really weird now to actually finally be where I want to be. I would ideally like to be just a few pounds lower, but as we are going on holiday at the end of December I really need to start moving up the plans now. It's been quite slow some weeks, so I don't want to have to carry on after Christmas. Money is getting tight. I need to start exercising now and tone up a bit more, but I'm pretty happy with where I am right now.:D

CONGRATULATIONS on reaching goal!!:bliss:You must be over the moon. Have seen you around quite a bit on general thread, so glad you got to where you want to be. Although i have to say, i agree with you in that the closer i get it almost feels less 'real' and certainly wierd not to be focused on losing anymore. I agree with what others have said that the hard part is now to come.....eek! I only started a diary a week or so ago and find it so useful, everyones lovely and can hopefully teach us newbies so much! Interesting to find out about the move to 1000, i'm still 810 so good to learn as much as can about next step. xx

It certainly does feel weird. Not sure I like to see the scales going up rather than down though! I know it's to be expected but it panics me! It's a real pain though that totm always seems to coincide with a week when I have to eat, or move up the plans, so I don't get a true picture of how much is due to the carbs, etc and how much is down to totm. Either way I'm now nearly 2lbs up on last week and hoping that I see it disappear soon.

How are things going Sparkles? Are you Ok? And did the 'gain' vanish yet? Hope all is well.

Yes the gain did vanish-I got to 9st 7lb this morning! I've got one more week on 1000 now and then I move up to 1200 next Monday! Must start my diary over here-I've been a bit busy but I must make time.

Hey Sparkles,
Sorry I missed your post previously glad to here the scales went back down for you hon! Its just the introducing the carbs back into your diet and your body getting used to it..

I managed to lose 2lb this week! Probably put it on again this week as I have now moved up to 1200. Also the IBS has been playing up again which isn't good.

Don't think you'll put on, I think the 'carb gain' is a one off thing, though sometimes I used to slow down moving up from step to step. Hope you can get the IBS sorted, not nice...
