special occasions?

what is your view on spending more cals on special occasions, if you were going to a friends for their birthday and they were having some nibbles and stuff, so you spend more than your allowance, what do you think about lowering your cals the next day by how many you went over by? does the weight loss still work as you are still having the same amount of cals for the week?
has anyone else ever done this?

I think in theory that should work, so long as it averages out over the week :)

My problem is, things like that never happen one at a time, its always three at a time or something... But its a special occassion :)

Just dont get too drunk or anything cos thats when the calories get really uncountable !!!

I've found that to work in the past! Most of the time on such days I personally try to stick to calories for maintenance. So, I'm on 1000 calories but on such an occasion I'd go up to 2000 calories guilt free!

I'll stick to it wherever possible, because if I start giving myself leeway, I'll start slacking off more and more often. If that means eating before I go, I'll do that. If it means picking a salad off the menu, I'll do that. If it means shunning all the nibbles and booze, I'll do that.

I have a goal. Anything which actively hinders my progress on the path to that goal has no place in my life. Nibblies, alcohol, pizza, lasagne... none of these help me lose weight, so they're not welcome :D
