Lots of Resolve on Day One

Hello everyone :)

I have got to get committed to becoming a smaller person. Call it lose weight, call it getting fit, building muscle, whatever.

I'm five foot eight and I weigh 220lbs. I have never written that out before. It gives me the creeps. I am BIG. The last ten have been from hurting my hip while riding. I pulled the periformis muscle, that is the muscle that runs between the ball of the hip bone and the hip socket. It swells and then clamps down on the sciatic nerve.

This morning I managed a 45 minute walk on my treadmill, no incline. My husband suggested that the incline would aggravate my back. He was right. It was much better on the flat. He works out five times a week and is in great shape. He's 51, I am 47.

One upon a time, until I was 30, I weighed 145. Then I became pregnant and a whole bunch of stressful things happened while pregnant and I decided not to worry about my weight. My mother told me stories of how she gained only fifteen pounds with me, and she wore a corset. Part of my parenting strategy has been to not be as self-centered as my mother...

I lost the weight when my daughter was six. And then sloooowly have gained it back.

I haven't spent much time "dieting" in the last ten years. I knew that it would result in yo-yo-ing unless I was really dedicated. I want to dedicate myself now. Hopefully I can find some friends here to accompany me on my path.

My goal: to become an object in motion

Yes, that is what I want, for this to be the beginning of a change in the way I live rather than "going on a diet." Thanks :)

Now I have to ask, where do you get the cute ticker code?

Ooooh, I have been on many, many "diets" in my lifetime. I'm an expert on diets. Information is not the problem, just the implementation and follow through.
